Assault – Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Avalon Boulevard and Realty Street in the City of Carson regarding a trespassing call for service. Deputies responded and contacted the Metro operator, who stated that a male adult (suspect) was drinking an alcoholic beverage on the bus. The operator asked the suspect to exit the bus; however, the suspect refused and began yelling profanities and threatening the operator. Deputies tried to talk the suspect into exiting the bus, but he refused.
Due to the suspect being in a wheelchair, deputies attempted to assist the suspect off the bus, at which time the suspect grabbed the handrail and began kicking deputies in the legs and groin multiple times. Deputies were able to gain control of the suspect’s arms and place him in handcuffs. While the deputies were placing the suspect in the back seat of the patrol car, he spat at the deputies, striking one of them in the face and eyes. The suspect was then transported to a local station for further processing.

Attempt Robbery/Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated he was selling his bicycle on the “Offer up” website. The victim planned to meet with a male juvenile (suspect) at the Willowbrook Passenger Station to sell the bicycle. The victim was accompanied by his brother, and the suspect was accompanied by two juveniles. As the victim and the suspect were discussing the sale of the bicycle, the suspect hit the victim on the head with his skateboard and forcefully tried to take the victim’s bike. The victim’s brother held onto the bicycle, denying the suspect from taking it. The suspect and the additional juveniles fled the location. The victim sustained a laceration to his head and was transported to the local hospital for treatment. The suspects are still outstanding.
Copper Theft – Suspects Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Long Beach Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft call for service. Deputies arrived and contacted the Metro supervisor, who stated that at approximately 0243 hours, Metro was monitoring surveillance cameras and saw what appeared to be someone cutting copper wire on the tracks near the platform. TSB deputies were able to detain two of the three suspects involved. Metro personnel positively identified both suspects. The suspects were arrested.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Crenshaw Metro Passenger Station regarding a family disturbance call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim), who stated he and his girlfriend (suspect) were involved in a verbal altercation. During the argument, the suspect began punching the victim multiple times in the face. The victim attempted to walk away, at which point the suspect retrieved a collapsible baton and struck him with it. The suspect was detained pending a domestic violence investigation. Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for further medical evaluation. The suspect was arrested.
Grand Theft – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Hawthorne Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft call for service. While responding, deputies observed a male juvenile (suspect) matching the suspect’s description in the call at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Acacia Avenue. Deputies attempted to contact the suspect and detain them; however, the suspect ran westbound on Imperial Highway through a local restaurant parking lot. The responding deputy initiated a one-person foot pursuit via his hand-held radio to maintain a visual of the suspect—additional responding deputies located and detained the suspect at the Hawthorne Passenger Station. The suspect was arrested.
