Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Long Beach Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated unknown persons broke into the traction powerhouse, stole and damaged approximately $10,000.00 worth of property. The supervisor further stated they were alerted to the theft by an intrusion alarm. The Metro Supervisor was unable to provide any suspect information.

Robbery – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Vermont Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated he was approached by four adult males (suspects) who argued with the victim. The suspects punched and kicked the victim. The suspects took the victim’s electrical scooter and left the location. The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the location and transported the victim to the local hospital, where the victim was treated for his injuries. The victim is in a stable condition. The suspects were not located.

Robbery – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the El Monte Bus Terminal regarding a battery call for service. Upon arrival, deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated that while standing on the platform, he was approached by two adult males (suspects) who, without provocation, produced a knife. Suspect 1 demanded the victim’s wallet and bag. Suspect 2 grabbed the victim’s bag and pulled it away from his grasp. The victim, in fear of his life, quickly walked away from the suspects. Security witnessed the incident and called the Police. The victim maintained a safe distance from the suspects and kept an eye on them until deputies arrived. The deputies detained one suspect at the scene. However, the second suspect fled downstairs. Deputies initiated a foot pursuit, and a responding Deputy stopped the suspect without incident. The victim identified the suspects as the people who had tried to rob him at knife point. The suspects were arrested and booked for the indicated charge. The victim was not injured during the incident, and the property was returned.

Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – No Suspect information
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the K-line yard regarding a copper wire report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated unknown persons stole approximately 220 feet of copper wire cables from the tracks. The suspect(s) also cut the fence to enter the tracks, causing damage to the fence. Deputies recovered three tools that were possibly used during the copper theft. The supervisor could not provide a date/time when the copper wire was last seen. The Metro Supervisor was unable to provide any suspect information. The damage and repairs were estimated at $1200.00.
Battery on Metro Contracted Security- Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Firestone Metro Passenger Station regarding a battery on a Metro contracted security officer call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated that they were off-loading passengers at the location due to the train going out of service. Metro contracted security officers contacted an adult female (suspect) who refused to exit the train and was physically removed by a Metro contract security officer. While being removed from the train, the female began flailing her arms, at which time she struck the security guard’s left forearm twice.
TSB Deputies detained the suspect pending a battery investigation. The victim positively identified the suspect as the person who had struck him twice on the left forearm while he was removing her from the train. The suspect was arrested for the charges indicated. The victim had no visible injuries or complaints of pain and refused medical treatment.

Attempt Robbery / ADW – Suspects Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated, while traveling on the A-Line, he was approached by an adult male (S/1) who demanded the victim’s property while simulating he had a firearm in his waistband. As the train arrived at Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station, the victim punched S/1 once in the face and ran off the train. S/2 and S/3, who had been traveling with S/1, followed the suspect onto the platform. S/2 retrieved a glass bottle, and S/3 produced a black folding knife, and they began swinging the bottle and knife in the victim’s direction.
Upon the Deputy’s arrival, all three suspects fled the scene. Assisting units were able to locate the three suspects matching the description in the call and detained them pending an assault investigation. The victim positively identified all three suspects. The black folding knife was recovered at the scene. The suspects were arrested and booked on the indicated charges. The victim was not injured, and no property was taken from his person.

Battery / Robbery – Suspects Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the local hospital regarding a battery report call for service. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, he contacted a male adult (victim) who stated that while aboard a bus approaching the 120th Street and Vermont Boulevard stop, the victim attempted to exit the bus at the next stop. However, the aisle was blocked by three adult males (suspects 1, 2& 3). The victim asked the suspect to move, at which time an argument began between the suspects and the victim. The suspects chased the victim off the bus and pushed him to the ground. While the victim was on the ground, the suspects punched and stomped the victim’s head. The suspects then stole the victim’s phone and left in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to the local hospital for his injuries. Deputies were unable to locate the suspects. The suspects are still outstanding.
Vandalism / Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Pacific Ave and Slauson Ave in the city of Huntington Park regarding vandalism on a bus call for service. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they located a male adult (suspect) standing next to the bus stop. Deputies attempted to contact the suspect. However, he refused to comply with their verbal commands to stop, which initiated a short foot pursuit. Deputies were able to contact the suspect, at which time the suspect produced a box cutter and lunged at one of the Deputies attempting to cut him.
Deputies were able to use control holds and pin the suspect up against a neighboring wall and disarm him of the box cutter. The suspect was handcuffed, arrested, and booked on several charges. Deputies were not injured during this incident.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the El Monte Bus Terminal regarding an assault with a deadly weapon against a Metro Security Officer, call for service. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they located a male adult (suspect) walking in the riverbed adjacent to the bus terminal, and a short foot pursuit was initiated. Deputies contacted the Metro Security officer, who stated the suspect had swung a metal chain at the Metro security officer, nearly missing him. The suspect was positively identified and arrested for the indicated charge.
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Vermont Metro Passenger Station regarding a disturbance (fight) call. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated, while at the passenger station, a female adult (Suspect #1) approached him and forcefully took his cellphone out of his hands. As the victim attempted to get his cellphone back, a male adult (Suspect #2) approached him and brandished a 3-inch knife. The suspect(s) fled the location and out of view. Deputies searched the area and located a male Black matching the description of Suspect #2. The suspect was positively identified by the victim and booked for the indicated charge. The victim was not injured during the robbery. Suspect 1 is still outstanding.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Artesia Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a witness who stated that a female adult (victim) was on the platform waiting for the train when a male adult (suspect) approached the victim and, without provocation, punched the victim in the face one time. The victim fell to the ground unconscious. The suspect then fled the platform.
Deputies were able to contact and detain the suspect in the parking lot of the station. While being detained, the suspect spat on two deputies. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment for her injuries. The suspect was booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault on a Peace Officer.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Compton Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (witness) who was waiting on the platform and observed an adult male (suspect) slam an adult female’s (victim) head against a concrete pillar multiple times on the platform. The deputies located and detained the suspect pending an assault investigation. The witness positively identified the suspect as the person who assaulted the victim. A search for the victim was conducted, but she was not located. Based on the witnesses’ statements and a review of CCTV of the incident, the suspect was arrested for the assault.
ADW (Knife) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to a local hospital regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report call. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated while riding an eastbound bus, he was approached by an adult male (suspect). The victim and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation; during the altercation, the suspect retrieved a knife and stabbed the victim in his upper back and left shoulder. The suspect exited the bus, and then the victim exited the bus. The victim called 911. Los Angeles County Fire responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening 1-inch stab wound to the upper back area and left shoulder area. The suspect is still outstanding.

Train Vs. Vehicle – Vehicle Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the intersection of Alondra Blvd and Willowbrook Ave in the city of Compton regarding a train vs. vehicle call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with the train operator, who reported that he had collided with a vehicle that was stopped on the tracks. When the operator looked back, the vehicle had already left the location. The operator, nor the passengers, reported any injuries or complaints of pain, and all passengers declined medical treatment. Compton Sheriff’s Station responded and took over the traffic investigation. The train sustained minor scrape damage to its side. A search for the vehicle involved in the incident was conducted but was not located.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Slauson Metro Passenger Station regarding a person down call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted Los Angeles County Fire, who was already on scene and treating an adult male (victim). The victim stated approximately five males assaulted him while he was on the platform. The victim was bleeding from the face and head area. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be further evaluated. Deputies searched the area for the suspects but were unable to find anyone involved in the incident.

ADW (Hands/Feet) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to a local hospital regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report call. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated, she was aboard a bus with an adult female (Suspect) she had just met in Culver City. While riding the bus, the victim and suspect became involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. The suspect grabbed the victim’s neck with both hands and began choking her. The victim and suspect exited the bus somewhere in Santa Monica near Robertson (NFD), and the physical fight continued. The victim said the suspect kicked and punched her numerous times. The victim said she did not report the incident the day before because she wanted to go home. The victim had bruises and redness on her neck and left cheek and complained of pain in her back, arms, and legs. The suspect is still outstanding.
ADW – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Long Beach Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated while aboard a bus heading for Long Beach Passenger Station, he and another adult male (suspect) got involved in a verbal argument. When they arrived at the station and exited the bus, the argument escalated and became a physical altercation. During the altercation, the suspect produced a screwdriver and stabbed the victim in the stomach. Deputies located the suspect on the platform waiting for the train and arrested him. The victim’s wound was superficial, and he refused medical treatment. The suspect was booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Robbery/ADW – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Vermont Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies detained three suspects who matched the description in the call one Juvenile, male (suspect 1) and two juvenile females (suspect 2 & 3). Deputies also contacted an adult male (victim) who stated, the male suspect approached him on the train as they were approaching Vermont Station and demanded his phone which the victim refused to give. When the train arrived at Vermont Station the victim exited the train followed by the three suspects. While on the platform all three suspects attacked the victim, punching, kicking, and whipping him with an electrical cord. During the attack, the suspects were able to take the victims cell phone. All three suspects exited the platform and went up to the street level where they were detained by deputies. The victim was treated at the scene for cuts and bruising to his face. The victim refused transport to the hospital. All three suspects were booked into juvenal hall for Robbery and Assault with a deadly weapon.
ADW – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Lakewood Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted Metro Security Officers (victim 1 & 2) who stated, while riding the train approaching Lakewood Station both victims observed an adult female (suspect) smoking on the train. They approached the suspect and advised her to put out the cigarette. The suspect became angry, broke a glass bottle that was in her hand and started threatening the victims with it. The suspect threw the bottle at one of the victims. The victims were able to detain the suspect and escort the suspect off the train awaiting the arrival of deputies. While sitting on the bench the suspect kicked and bit the second victim. Deputies arrived and took the suspect into custody. Both victims refused medical care. The suspect was treated for an injury to her hand at a local hospital, then booked on assault with a deadly weapon charges.

Coming out of the closet is a challenging process and a unique journey for those in it, including close family and friends. The first step for a person is to recognize and understand their sexual identity. Once that hurdle is achieved (sometimes a lifelong process), then managing and accommodating beliefs (i.e. religious) and relationships, sometimes losing connections with family, friends, coworkers, etc. It is not uncommon that the fear of losing these relationships impacts the complexities of disclosing sexual orientation.
It is this and other factors that have a negative effect on emotional wellbeing and increases risk for mental illness, substance abuse and for some suicide. This is in part why explicit and intentional symbolism of acceptance with something as small as a LGBT pride badge is so important. Somebody who is struggling in silence may experience hope and a message of “you belong and we are here for you”.
LASD personnel may also have relatives who are LGBT and to a certain degree are also charged with the burden of having to come out of the closet. Those messages will empower them in their journey of self-acceptance and disclosure. This is the strength of the ethos of being part of a law enforcement family. To take care of each other and protect each other’s vulnerability. We need to continue to make strides in being leaders for LASD’s LGBT brothers and sisters.
There are simple things that we can do to promote an environment that allows for individuals who are LGBT to feel accepted. We have to be intentional and explicit in sending the message that our LGBT family safe and embraced. We can place LGBT related material, signs, symbols around the workplace (such as posting the pride badge for example). Avoid making assumptions of sexual orientation (i.e. do you have a girlfriend? Boyfriend? instead using a gender-neutral approach, such as, are you dating? Do you have a spouse?” Speak up against homophobic statements.
There is an increased risk for suicide among LGBT individuals for many of the reasons described. The Trevor Project is an organization that targets LGBT youth in order to provide support and resource for preventing suicide for this vulnerable population. They have estimated that an LGBTQ individual between the ages of 13-24 attempt suicide every 45 seconds in the U.S. Offering a supportive environment that helps the individual experience acceptance and belonging such as those described serves as a significant protective factor against emotional distress and suicide.

Battery on Metro Security – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies were flagged down by Metro Contract Security (Intercom Security) at the 4th Street/Downtown Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station. Deputies contacted the security guards, who informed them the suspect would not leave the passenger station when ordered to. Deputies contacted the suspect and cited him in the field for trespassing, promising to appear in court.
A short time after, TSB Deputies were again flagged down by the same Intercom Security guards. The security guard stated the suspect returned and was challenging them to fight. The deputies responded to the location and observed the suspect punch a security guard (victim) on the left side of his face. The deputies detained the suspect without incident. Deputies arrested the suspect for the battery. The victim sustained redness and swelling to his left eye and check area. Both suspect and victim were treated on scene, and additional medical attention was refused.

ADW (Hands/Feet) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Crenshaw Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated he verbally argued with his son, an adult male (suspect), regarding money. The suspect was upset with the victim for not giving him money for drugs, at which time the suspect became upset and punched the victim in the face numerous times, causing abrasions and cuts to his lip and mouth area. The suspect additionally pushed the victim onto the train tracks, where nearby patrons intervened and helped the victim off the tracks. Los Angeles County Fire responded to the platform and treated the victim for his injuries. The victim also sustained abrasions to his right hand. The suspect boarded the train and traveled westbound and out of view.
Traffic Collision – MTA Bus Vs. Pedestrian
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Florence Avenue and Wilmington Avenue in the city of Los Angeles regarding a traffic collision involving an MTA bus vs. a bicyclist. The MTA bus was traveling eastbound on Florence Avenue, approaching Wilmington Avenue. As the but operator merged lanes, the bus collided with a bicyclist traveling directly next to the bus. The operator did not see the bicyclist riding next to the bus. Los Angeles County Fire responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for minor injuries. CHP responded on the scene and will handle the investigation.

Attempt Robbery – Suspects Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the 26th Street Metro Passenger Station regarding a possible robbery that had just occurred and called for service. Upon arrival, deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who told them while riding the train eastbound approaching the 26th Street Metro Passenger Station, he became involved in an argument with five suspects. The suspects punched and kicked the victim multiple times and took his cell phone (valued at $1400) during the assault. The victim was unable to describe the male suspects other than their race. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim sustained a bloody nose, bruising to his right eye and his right ear, and several scratches on his arms. The Santa Monica Fire Department responded and treated the victim. The victim refused to be transported for further medical care.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Lakewood Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated that while waiting for the train, an adult male (suspect) approached him and asked him for money. The victim said he did not have any money. The suspect grabbed the victim by the collar, pushed him against a wall, and stated he would stab him if he did not give him his money. The victim again said I do not have any. The suspect then went through the victims’ pockets, looking for valuables. The suspect did not take any of the victim’s property. The suspect left the platform in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured during the attempted robbery. Deputies canvased the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
Train vs. Pedestrian – Persons Deceased
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the A-Line Virgina Avenue Railroad Crossing in Azusa regarding a train versus a pedestrian call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies observed an adult male (victim) who had been fatally struck by a Metro train. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and pronounced the deceased victim. The Homicide Bureau was notified. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded and took over the scene.
Battery on Metro Security – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies were flagged down by Metro Contract Security (Absolute Security) (victim) at the Norwalk Metro Passenger Station regarding a battery on Metro contracted security. Deputies contacted security, who stated that while patrolling Norwalk Metro Passenger Station, he noticed an adult male (suspect) on the platform after the station had closed for the day. He told the suspect he would have to leave. The suspect became angry and threw a traffic cone at security, striking him in the shoulder. Security attempted to place the suspect under citizen’s arrest for battery, which the suspect resisted. Security then pepper sprayed the suspect with “mace.” The suspect was then handcuffed without further incident by security. Deputies took custody of the suspect and cited him for battery. Both the suspect and security refused medical care.

Assault (Hands/Feet) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Crenshaw Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated while he was on the train, he began arguing with multiple male adults (suspects). The argument turned physical when one of the suspects hit the victim over the head with a glass bottle. The victim was subsequently thrown off the train at Crenshaw Metro Passenger Station, where the suspects continued to punch and kick him. During the altercation, the victim lost consciousness because of the attack. The victim sustained a small laceration on his head, swelling to the eyes and face, and lacerations on his arms. Los Angeles County Fire responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. A search was conducted for the suspects, but they were not located.
ADW – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to local hospital regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies met with an adult male (victim) who stated while sitting at the Rosa Parks bus bay he was approached by an adult male (suspect) who was carrying a bicycle tire in his hand. The suspect asked the victim for money, which the victim did not have. The suspect started a random conversation with the victim, then walked away. Upon a bus approaching, the victim was struck in the back of his head without warning. The victim fell to his knees, got up and entered the bus. The victim did not see who hit him; however, he was told by a passenger on the bus that the suspect had struck him in the head with the tire he was carrying. The victim was treated for a nonlife threatening head injury at the local hospital. Deputies canvased the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Sierra Madre Metro Passenger Station regarding a person stabbed on the platform call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies met with the Pasadena Fire Department and found an adult male (victim) with multiple stab wounds. A person of interest (the suspect) was located by deputies and detained at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries to his upper torso. The victim was held in stable condition at the Hospital in Pasadena. The suspect who was detained at the location has been arrested for Attempted Murder and Mayhem.

Every second counts during an emergency response. Whether it’s a sheriff’s unit/police car, fire engine, or ambulance, emergency vehicles rely on drivers to do their part and clear the path quickly and safely. California law 21806 CVC requires motorists to pull to the right and stop when an emergency vehicle approaches with lights and sirens activated.
This ensures a safe right-of-way for first responders when traveling to an emergency. “Too often, we encounter drivers who are unsure of what to do or worse, ignore the sirens altogether,” said Sheriff Robert Luna. “This campaign is about saving lives by making sure every driver knows how to react when they see those flashing lights in their rearview mirror.”
The Public Can Help By Following These Key Safety Reminders:
Stay alert: Keep music at a reasonable volume and avoid distractions so you can hear sirens and see flashing lights.
Pull to the right: When safe, signal and move your vehicle to the right-hand side of the road.
Stop and wait: Remain stopped until the emergency vehicle has passed, or you are directed otherwise.
Don’t block intersections: If you’re in an intersection when an emergency vehicle approaches, continue through and then pull over.

ADW – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the El Monte Bus Terminal Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon that just occurred call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who said he and an adult male (suspect) were involved in a fistfight when the suspect pulled out a knife from his waistband and stabbed him. The victim was stabbed once on the forehead, once on the cheek, once on his left forearm, and 4 times in the back. Contract security at the location witnessed the assault.
TSB deputies located and detained the suspect. The victim and witnesses positively identified the suspect as the person who had stabbed the victim multiple times. The suspect was arrested for the charge indicated. The deputies recovered the knife the suspect used. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for an OK to book due to the injuries he sustained in the first fight. The victim was transported to the local hospital in critical but stable condition.
Battery on Transit Security – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Crenshaw Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on Metro Contract Security personnel. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted Metro Contract Security Officers (victim and witnesses), who stated they contacted an adult female (suspect) on the elevator urinating and defecating inside the elevator. Security instructed the suspect to exit the station, but the suspect refused. During their contact with the suspect, she became angry and punched the victim in his chest. The victim and witness were able to gain control of the suspect and placed her in handcuffs. The victim complained of soreness in his chest. However, he declined medical attention. The victim was desirous of prosecution and signed a Private Person’s (Citizen’s) Arrest. The suspect was arrested and booked.
Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Metro division yard regarding a see-the-man report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that an unknown suspect entered the location and stole 100 feet of copper wire. The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damage and repairs were estimated at $3,500. The suspect is still outstanding.

Possible ADW (Metal Object) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the local medical center regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report call for service. Upon arrival, deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated he was assaulted after he entered the Downtown Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station and rode the train to 7th and Metro. While riding the train, he noted that 10 male juveniles (subjects) took his cane and assaulted him with an unknown black metal object. The victim said the subjects picked him up and threw him off the train at an unknown location. The victim was unsure of any further details of the incident, and it is unclear if the victim was treated for his injuries at the first hospital. The victim’s injuries appear to be fresh and not ones that were sustained a day ago. The victim’s statements were inconsistent.
Battery on Transit Patron – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding a battery on a Metro transit patron call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who said between Harbor and Willowbrook Stations, an adult female (suspect) approached her, grabbed her hair, and began pulling it. When the train stopped at Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station, other passengers intervened, and the suspect let go of the victim’s hair and fled southbound and out of view.
TSB Deputies located and detained the suspect pending a battery investigation. The victim positively identified the suspect as the person who had pulled her hair, causing her pain. The suspect was arrested for the charge indicated. The deputies discovered the suspect had two fixed-blade knives concealed under her clothing. The suspect was additionally charged with carrying a concealed dirk/dagger. The victim refused medical treatment.
ADW (Rocks) – Suspects Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Compton Metro Passenger Station regarding a trespassing call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted security personnel, who stated they contacted an adult male (suspect) who became unruly on the train and was told to leave. The suspect exited the train but remained on the platform and continued his rowdy behavior. The suspect left the platform but returned a few minutes later. Security personnel denied the suspect access to the platform, so the suspect became irate and went on the tracks. The suspect began to throw rocks at the security personnel, missing them several times. The suspect then fled the location southbound and out of view. The deputies searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him. The security personnel were not hit or injured during the incident.
Robbery – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Arcadia Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated he boarded a westbound train at the Monrovia Metro Passenger Station and was approached by two adult males (suspects 1 & 2). Suspect 1 pulled out a pocketknife and ordered the victim to empty his pockets. The victim complied and handed them his prescription medication. Both suspects also tried to take the victim’s cell phone as the train pulled into the Arcadia Metro Passenger station. Still, the victim was able to exit the train and seek help. The victim was not injured. A search for the suspect was conducted, but he was not located.

Vandalism – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to El Segundo Blvd and Hawthorne Blvd in the city of Hawthorne regarding a vandalism call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (the bus operator), who stated an adult male (suspect) was involved in a fight with another adult male (party) inside the bus. She said that as the suspect exited the bus, he punched the windshield, causing it to crack. The suspect began walking westbound on El Segundo Blvd from Hawthorne Blvd and out of view. No injuries were reported. The suspect and the other party involved were searched, but he was not located.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Long Beach Blvd and Rosecrans Ave., in the city of Compton, regarding an MTA bus vs. vehicle traffic collision on Long Beach Blvd at Rosecrans Ave when it collided with a white Chevrolet Blazer. Compton Fire responded. No injuries were reported on the bus or by the other party involved. The bus and the other vehicle sustained minor damage. Compton Sheriff’s Station will investigate the traffic collision.

Sexual Assault – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the El Monte Bus Terminal regarding a sexual assault call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a Juvenile female (victim), who said while she was waiting at the lower level of the bus terminal when she was approached by an adult male (suspect) who exposed his penis to the victim at the bus bay. The victim boarded the bus, which the suspect followed. While the bus was in transit, the suspect then grabbed and touched the victim on her left buttock area. The victim was able to flee from the suspect and move toward the front of the bus. The suspect exited the bus on the first stop from the terminal and fled in an unknown direction. The victim went back to school and reported the incident to school officials. The suspect is still outstanding.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Willowbrook Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated she was walking and was attacked by four males (suspects) from behind. The victim said during the assault, she was hit with an unknown object. The victim sustained swelling to her left forearm and the left side of her head. The Los Angeles County Fire Paramedics provided medical treatment to the victim. The victim refused to be transported to the hospital. The suspects were not located.

Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Culver City Metro Passenger Station regarding a see-the-man report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that an unknown suspect entered the location and stole 80 feet of copper wire. The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $12,000. The suspect is still outstanding.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Willowbrook Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies were able to locate and detain an adult male (suspect) at the Kenneth Hahn Plaza just south of the passenger station. Deputies utilizing Close Circuit Television (CCTV) were able to see the incident take place. Due to the victim (an adult male) leaving the location in an unknown direction. CCTV provided a play-by-play of the suspect involved in a fight with the victim and, without provocation, swinging a metal screwdriver at the victim, stabbing the victim on his upper body. The suspect was arrested for the assault with a deadly weapon.

Assault Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury (GBI) – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Compton Ave and Gage Ave., in the city of Los Angeles, regarding an adult male (victim) bleeding from the face. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim, who stated while on the bus, an adult male (suspect) began a verbal altercation with him because the suspect believed the victim was talking about him in Spanish with another passenger. The suspect confronted the victim and began punching him in the face with both fists. The victim fell to the floor, where the suspect continued to punch the victim, then grabbed him by the neck and began choking him. Once the bus came to a stop, the suspect fled the scene. The victim did not lose consciousness.
Assisting units canvassed the area, and with the assistance of Aero, the suspect was located a short distance away. The suspect was positively identified by witnesses on board the bus at the time of the incident. The victim sustained significant facial trauma and was treated on scene by Los Angeles County Fire. The victim was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The suspect was arrested for the assault.
Grand Theft (Cell Phone) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Florence Ave and Santa Fe Ave., in the city of Huntington Park, regarding a phone snatch. Upon arrival, deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who told them she had her cell phone resting in her hand while riding the bus. As the bus came to a stop, an adult male (suspect) snatched her cell phone out of her hand and ran off the bus. The suspect was last seen heading southbound from the location and out of view. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim was not injured and declined medical treatment. The suspect is still outstanding.

Battery on Metro Security Officer – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Downtown Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on Metro Security call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Security Officer (victim), who stated they contacted an adult male (suspect) on the train regarding his failure to have a valid fare ticket to board the train. During their contact with the suspect, the suspect became angry and took a fighting stance. The victim and his partner told the suspect to exit the train, but the suspect refused. As the victim and his partner attempted to escort the suspect off the train, the suspect swung his fists toward the victim, at which time a struggle ensued, causing them to fall to the ground. The victim and his partner were able to subdue the suspect and placed him in handcuffs. During the struggle, the victim sustained abrasions to his right wrist and arm. However, he declined medical attention. The victim was desirous of prosecution and signed a Private Person’s (Citizen’s) Arrest form. The suspect was placed under arrest for the assault.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Hands) – Suspects Arrested
While conducting a patrol check of Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station, Deputies heard several people yelling on the platform. Deputies responded to the platform and discovered while walking down the steps from the C Line to the A Line, four juveniles were being loud, boisterous, and pretending to fight. Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated he thought they were physically fighting and approached them and became involved in a verbal altercation. Without warning, subject #1 punched the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground. subject #1 then stood over the victim and punched him numerous times in the face. subject #2 then punched the victim 2-3 times in the face.
The victim’s friend attempted to pull the juveniles off her friend, and the victim was able to stand up. subject #1 then pushed the victim onto the tracks. Fearing the subjects would continue to assault the victim, the female (the victim’s friend) produced a knife and ordered the subjects to leave the victim alone. Deputies detained all parties and subsequently arrested subjects #1 and #2 for the indicated charge. The victim sustained bruising on his face, several abrasions on his arms, and a possible fractured wrist. Los Angeles County Fire responded and treated the victim on scene. The victim refused further medical attention. The subjects were arrested.

Possible Sexual Assault – No Suspect Information
Transit Services Bureau Deputy responded to the local Medical Center regarding a possible rape report call for service. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, he contacted a female adult (victim), who reported she was raped and sodomized while on a metro bus in Santa Monica. The victim was very uncooperative with Department personnel, refusing to provide details of the incident, including bus identification, to aid in the investigation. The victim further refused any medical examination by medical center staff. The Deputy investigator observed no visible injuries to the victim, and no related calls for service were received. The description of the suspect is currently unknown.

Battery – Suspect Arrested
The Transit Service Bureau deputy responded to a local hospital regarding a battery report call for service. Upon his arrival, he contacted an adult male (victim) who stated he was pepper sprayed by an unknown adult male wearing a black gator covering his face while riding a metro bus. An additional victim was contacted at another local Hospital who also reported being pepper sprayed while sitting near the first victim and reported being punched one time on his face. A search for the suspect was met with negative results.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Downtown Santa Monica 4th Street Metro Passenger Station regarding a meeting with the Santa Monica Police Department call for service. Upon their arrival, Deputies personnel learned Santa Monica PD had detained an adult male (suspect) on the platform following an altercation with another individual. Upon further investigation and review of CCTV footage, personnel learned the suspect and an adult male (victim) were in an argument, leading to a physical altercation. During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim in the torso. A weapon was recovered at the location.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The suspect complained of pain in his head and was also transported to a separate local hospital for medical clearance.

Transit Services Bureau Deputies responded to the Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated that an adult male (suspect) approached him on the train and instructed the victim not to record him with his cell phone. The suspect then, without provocation, swung a metal pipe at the victim, striking the victim on his left arm, causing redness and bruising. The victim refused medical treatment at the scene. The suspect was arrested.

Urinating in Public/MTA Security Pepper Spray – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau Deputies responded to the Westchester/Veterans Metro Passenger Station regarding a male adult threatening to fight a metro security call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro security officer (victim), who stated that an adult male (suspect) was seen urinating on Metro property. When asked to leave the premises, the suspect became agitated and attempted to punch the victim. The victim thus deployed his pepper spray, which contacted the suspect. The suspect was subsequently arrested for indecent exposure, trespassing, and challenging to fight. The suspect was transported to the local Hospital for further medical evaluation due to pepper spray exposure.

Traffic Collision – Bus Vs. Motorcycle
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Eastern Ave and Washington Blvd. in the city of Commerce regarding an MTA bus vs. motorcycle traffic collision on Eastern Avenue. The bus, traveling northbound, collided with the motorcycle. Los Angeles County Fire responded. The motorcyclist suffered a right-hand injury but refused hospital transport. No injuries were reported on the bus. The bus sustained unknown damage, while the motorcycle was heavily damaged. East Los Angeles Sheriff Station will investigate.
