January 23, 2025

Attempt Robbery – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Slauson Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery that just occurred call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted an adult male (victim) who told them while standing on the platform, an adult male (suspect) approached him and, without provocation, produced a sharp metal object resembling a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet however, the victim was able to create distance from the suspect and call the Sheriff’s Department on his cellphone. 

The suspect continued to follow the victim while on the platform, but the victim was able to maintain a safe distance from the suspect until deputies arrived.  Deputies detained the suspect pending an investigation. The victim was able to identify the suspect as the person who tried to rob him at knifepoint. The suspect was arrested, the victim was not injured during the incident, and his wallet was recovered on the platform.  A pair of sharp metal shears were located on the suspect’s person.  

January 21, 2025

Arson – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding a disturbance call for service. Upon their arrival, they contacted Metro Security, who had detained an adult female (suspect) who had set some papers on fire on board the train. During the Deputy’s investigation, they determined the suspect was suffering from a mental illness and transported the suspect to a local hospital for further mental evaluation.  The suspect was also charged with arson.

January 20, 2025

Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – No Suspect information

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to 92nd Street/Graham Avenue in the city of Los Angeles regarding a theft of copper wire report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that he discovered the copper wire was missing at 0900 hours. The supervisor was unable to provide a date/time when the copper wire was last seen. No suspect information was provided. The damage and repairs were estimated at $6,500.00.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Hands) – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station Bus Bay regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon their arrival, Deputies were contacted by the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACFD), who stated their patient, an adult male (victim), was attacked. During the Deputy’s investigation, they discovered the victim, for unknown reasons, had taken off his pants in front of several patrons at the location.  The victim was then approached by an adult male (suspect) who demanded the victim put his clothes back on.  The suspect then punched the victim twice in the head, causing the victim to lose his balance, falling and striking his head on the concrete.  Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for further treatment. The victim was reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.  The suspect was later located and arrested for the indicated charge.  Both the suspect and victim were unhoused.

Battery on MTA Bus Operator – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to El Monte Metro Bus Terminal (Lower level) in the city of El Monte regarding an assault on a Metro Transit Bus operator call for service. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted the bus operator (victim), who stated, I was taking my break on the bus when an adult male (suspect) boarded the bus and demanded transportation to Downtown LA.  The victim told the suspect he would have to exit the bus because he was not driving the bus.

The suspect became irate and started attacking the victim.  The victim believed he saw a pocketknife in the suspect’s hand as the suspect punched him.  The suspect exited the bus and walked to the terminal platform, where Deputies detained him. The victim sustained multiple lacerations to his right hand and was treated on the scene by the responding Fire Department. The suspect was arrested.  

January 18, 2025

Battery on a Metro Employee (Contract Security Guard) – Suspect Arrested

Two Metro-contracted security officers (Victim 1 and Victim 2 (V1/V2)) were conducting train rides and observed an adult male (suspect) sleeping on the train. Upon the train stopping at Mariposa Metro Passenger Station, the security officers observed the suspect exiting the train and boarded another train. The security officers boarded the same train to document the incident and report it to law enforcement. 

While one of the security guards was taking a picture of the suspect, the suspect became upset and approached the security officer (V1) and punched him in the face twice without provocation. The security officers were able to detain the suspect, at which time the suspect turned his head and spat in the face of the second security officer, V2.  V1 complained of pain to his face but refused medical treatment.  V2 was not injured and refused medical attention.  Transit Services Bureau Deputies responded and arrested the suspect for battery on a Metro employee.

January 17, 2025

Possession with a Firearm – Suspect Arrested

While conducting a patrol check at Norwalk Metro Passenger Station, the Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputy contacted an adult male (suspect) for trespassing and riding his bicycle on a Metro platform. TSB Deputy detained the suspect. Incident to arrest, TSB Deputy searched the suspect’s backpack and located two loaded semi-automatic handguns.

Further investigation revealed the backpack, and firearms had been stolen in a vehicle burglary incident from the neighboring city, which had been reported to the local Sheriff’s Station. A search of the suspect revealed that he was in possession of a controlled substance and was arrested for the above-indicated charges.

January 16, 2025

Battery on MTA Bus Operator – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Admiralty Way / Mindanao Way in the city of Marina Del Rey regarding an assault on a Metro Transit Bus operator call for service. While on patrol, Marina Del Ray (MDR) Deputies were flagged down at the location by the MTA bus operator (victim), who had just been assaulted on the bus. MDR Deputies contacted the TSB station, and TSB Deputies were dispatched. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the victim, who stated that an adult male (suspect) was being loud and unruly on the bus and was asked to exit.

The suspect became upset and, without provocation, punched the victim on the right side of the face. The suspect then exited the bus, and the victim followed. The operator was able to flag down a passing Sheriff’s patrol car. The suspect was detained after a short foot pursuit with Marina Del Rey deputies, and the suspect was successfully arrested without further incident. The victim refused to be transported to the Hospital.

Battery on MTA Bus Operator – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Admiralty Way / Mindanao Way in the city of Marina Del Rey regarding an assault on a Metro Transit Bus operator call for service. Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – Suspect Arrested

While conducting a Copper Wire Theft Operation on the Metro A Line, TSB’s South Special Assignment Unit (SAU) observed an adult male (suspect) on the tracks near the Manville Crossing. Deputies contacted and detained the suspect regarding trespassing on Metro property. During the contact the suspect was found to be in possession of large amounts of copper wire.  The suspect was arrested for the charge.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Willowbrook Ave and 119th St, regarding a theft of copper wire report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that unknown suspect entered the location and stole 177 feet of copper wire. The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $9,000. The suspect is still outstanding.

Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that unknown suspect entered the location and stole 300 feet of copper wire. The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $2,000. The suspect is still outstanding.

January 04, 2025

Indecent Exposure – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to APU/Citrus Metro Passenger Station regarding an Indecent Exposure call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted an female adult (victim) who stated, she had boarded an eastbound train at Lake Metro Passenger Station, when a male adult (suspect) sat in front of her, and started gripping his penis with both hands, with a smirk on his face looking directly at her.  The victim immediately became uncomfortable and exited the train at Downtown Azusa Metro Passenger Station.  The suspect did not exit the train.  The victim contacted Metro ROC regarding this incident and was advised to report this incident to LASD at APU Passenger Station. The victim contacted law enforcement and was able to positively identify the suspect, who remained on the train, in the same seating position.  The suspect was arrested.

Assault (Knife)– Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Norwalk Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted a male adult (victim) and another male adult (suspect). The victim stated while he was on the train with his girlfriend, he observed the suspect starring at his girlfriend. The victim and the suspect then began to argue and the argument turned physical when the suspect produced a knife and began violently attacking the victim. The suspect slashed the victim with the knife on his lower back, which produced superficial wounds. LA County Fire responded to treat the victim, but he refused to be treated and or transported to the hospital. The suspect was arrested.

January 02, 2025

Assault – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the intersection of Del Mar Blvd and Madison Ave, in the city of Pasadena, regarding an aggravated assault call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated that while riding on the Metro bus, she and another adult female (suspect) became involved in a verbal argument, which became physical when the suspect struck the victim on the cheek with a power drill.  The victim sustained minor scratches on her cheek.  The suspect fled the location and out of view.  Pasadena Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local Hospital for treatment. Deputies recovered the power drill and booked it into evidence at Temple Sheriff’s Station.  Deputies, along with Pasadena Police, conducted a search for the suspect. However, they were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that unknown suspects entered the location and stole 223 feet of copper wire. The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $16,232. The suspect is still outstanding.

The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $19,676. The suspect is still outstanding.

Possession of a Knife – Suspect Arrested

While conducting security for the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl at Memorial Park Metro Passenger Station, Transit Services Bureau’s (TSB) Special Assignment Unit (SAU) conducted high visibility security checks of the platform when they noticed an adult male (suspect) wearing a tactical plate carrier with an open folding knife in plain view affixed to the plate carrier readily available. SAU Deputies detained the suspect. Upon conducting a search of the suspect, Deputies retrieved a baggie containing an off-white crystal-like substance and a drug pipe. The suspect was arrested.

Possession of a Firearm – Suspect Arrested

While conducting security for the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl at Memorial Park Metro Passenger Station, Transit Services Bureau’s (TSB) Special Assignment Unit (SAU) was contacted by Metro Security about a person with a gun on the train. SAU Deputies, along with Metro Security and Homeland Security Agents, searched the train and platform as patrons were exiting.

Metro Security updated information that the male adult (suspect) had a gun in his pocket, and the butt of the gun was showing. TSB SAU Deputies contacted the suspect at Memorial Park Metro Passenger Station and took him into custody without further incident. Upon conducting a search of the suspect, Deputies retrieved the pellet gun as well as several pellet packs from the suspect’s backpack.

Train vs. Pedestrian

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Mountain Ave, in the city of Duarte, just west of Duarte Metro Passenger Station, regarding a train vs. pedestrian call for service. Upon Deputies’ arrival, they contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that the pedestrian was walking westbound on the train tracks when he was struck by a westbound train. Los Angeles County Fire responded and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital for further evaluation. The pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

December 30, 2024

Assault on Metro Security Officer – Subject Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Duarte Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on an MTA security officer’s call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted the MTA security officer (victim), who stated he observed six juveniles riding their skateboards and scooters on the platform.  The victim contacted the juveniles and told them they must leave the area. As the juveniles left the platform, one juvenile (subject) retrieved rocks from the tracks and threw them at the victim.  The victim was struck on the right arm and right side of his head.  The victim was examined at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire. The victim had no visible injuries and declined transportation to the hospital.  Deputies conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the subject. The subject is still outstanding. 

Robbery (Strong Arm) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Florence Ave/Alameda Blvd, in the city of Los Angeles, regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated while standing at the rear of the bus, she was approached by an adult female (suspect) who forcefully pulled her headphones off her head and ran off the bus.  As the suspect exited the bus, a good samaritan who observed the incident retrieved the headphones from the suspect and returned them to the victim. The suspect fled westbound on Florence Ave and out of view. The victim was not injured and declined medical treatment. The suspect is still outstanding.

December 27, 2024

Robbery (Strong Arm) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Long Beach Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated that while waiting for a train, an adult male (suspect) attempted to forcefully grab her cell phone out of her hands. During the attempt, a struggle between the victim and the suspect ensued. The suspect simulated a firearm with his hand, at which point the victim feared for her life and let go of her phone. The suspect fled on foot down the stairs and out of view. The suspect is still outstanding.

Possession of a Firearm – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Azusa Metro Passenger Station regarding a person with a gun call for service. While en route, the call was updated that an adult male (suspect) had boarded the train and was traveling towards Irwindale Metro Passenger Station. Deputies reverted their response to Irwindale Metro Passenger Station; upon arrival, deputies contacted and detained the suspect without incident upon exiting the train.  Deputies conducted a search of the suspect and located an additional replica handgun in addition to the replica rifle the suspect was carrying.  The suspect was arrested.
