January 30, 2025

Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – No Suspect information

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Caroline Avenue in the city of Culver City regarding a grand theft call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated unknown persons stole approximately 30 feet of copper wire cables from the tracks. The suspect(s) also cut the fence to enter the tracks, causing damage to the fence.  The supervisor could not provide a date/time when the copper wire was last seen. The Metro Supervisor was unable to provide any suspect information. The damage and repairs were estimated at $5000.00.

Robbery (Strong Arm) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Hyde Park Boulevard and Park Avenue in the city of Inglewood regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated that while she was seated on the bus, a male adult (suspect) approached her from behind and grabbed her phone from her hand. After a brief struggle over the phone, the suspect was able to take the phone and ran off the bus. The suspect ran off the bus, and the victim followed the suspect. The suspect then turned toward the victim and threw the phone back at the victim. The victim retrieved her phone, and the suspect ran southbound on Park Avenue and out of view. The suspect is still outstanding.

Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – No Suspect information

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the 17th Street/Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station regarding a vandalism call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that copper cables located underneath the platform had been taken, causing a power outage on the tracks. The supervisor could not provide a date/time when the copper wire was last seen. No suspect information was provided. The damage and repairs were estimated at $2000.00.

Traffic Collision Bus Vs. Vehicle – Minor Injuries

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to San Fernando Road and West Broadway in the city of Glendale regarding a vehicle vs Metro Transit Authority (MTA) bus collision. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the bus operator, who stated the bus was traveling northbound on San Fernando Road and West Broadway when it was sideswiped by a vehicle.  No injuries were reported.  The MTA Supervisor and the Glendale Police Department responded to the scene.  The bus damages are unknown due to the bus leaving before the Deputy’s arrival. The vehicle sustained substantial damage.  The Glendale Police Department will investigate the traffic collision.

January 27, 2025

Indecent Exposure – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to the Compton Metro Passenger Station regarding an indecent exposure call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted an adult female (victim) who stated while traveling southbound on the A-Line train, an adult male (suspect) stood next to her and exposed his erect penis and began masturbating in front of her.  The victim exited the train at Compton Pax and called 911.  While the victim was on the phone with dispatch, the suspect followed the victim and continued to expose himself and masturbate in public view.  Once Deputies arrived, they contacted and detained the suspect. The suspect was arrested. 

January 24, 2025

Robbery – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding a suspicious person call for service. Upon their arrival, they contacted an adult female (victim) who stated while inside an elevator with her friend (witness), an adult male (suspect), pulled out a knife and threatened the victim. The suspect yell at the victim stating, “Where’s my shit at.” Both the victim and the witness exited the elevator, but the suspect followed them. Trying to get away from the suspect, the victim dropped her scooter which had a red “TJ Max” bag, attached to it. The suspect then grabbed the bag and ran back into the elevator and disappeared up the stairs. The suspect took numerous items from the victim. The suspect is still outstanding.

Assault on MTA Security – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on MTA Intercom security call for service. Upon the Deputies arrival, the contacted MTA intercom security (victim) who stated I was conducting a welfare check on an adult male (suspect) who was sleeping on the train. The suspect woke up, yelled at the victim and subsequently grabbed the victim and pushed him to the ground. The suspect then left the location, however returned shortly after. The suspect was detained by Metro security personnel. The suspect was arrested.

January 23, 2025

Attempt Robbery – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Slauson Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery that just occurred call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted an adult male (victim) who told them while standing on the platform, an adult male (suspect) approached him and, without provocation, produced a sharp metal object resembling a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet however, the victim was able to create distance from the suspect and call the Sheriff’s Department on his cellphone. 

The suspect continued to follow the victim while on the platform, but the victim was able to maintain a safe distance from the suspect until deputies arrived.  Deputies detained the suspect pending an investigation. The victim was able to identify the suspect as the person who tried to rob him at knifepoint. The suspect was arrested, the victim was not injured during the incident, and his wallet was recovered on the platform.  A pair of sharp metal shears were located on the suspect’s person.  

January 21, 2025

Arson – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding a disturbance call for service. Upon their arrival, they contacted Metro Security, who had detained an adult female (suspect) who had set some papers on fire on board the train. During the Deputy’s investigation, they determined the suspect was suffering from a mental illness and transported the suspect to a local hospital for further mental evaluation.  The suspect was also charged with arson.

January 20, 2025

Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – No Suspect information

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to 92nd Street/Graham Avenue in the city of Los Angeles regarding a theft of copper wire report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that he discovered the copper wire was missing at 0900 hours. The supervisor was unable to provide a date/time when the copper wire was last seen. No suspect information was provided. The damage and repairs were estimated at $6,500.00.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Hands) – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station Bus Bay regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon their arrival, Deputies were contacted by the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACFD), who stated their patient, an adult male (victim), was attacked. During the Deputy’s investigation, they discovered the victim, for unknown reasons, had taken off his pants in front of several patrons at the location.  The victim was then approached by an adult male (suspect) who demanded the victim put his clothes back on.  The suspect then punched the victim twice in the head, causing the victim to lose his balance, falling and striking his head on the concrete.  Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for further treatment. The victim was reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.  The suspect was later located and arrested for the indicated charge.  Both the suspect and victim were unhoused.

Battery on MTA Bus Operator – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to El Monte Metro Bus Terminal (Lower level) in the city of El Monte regarding an assault on a Metro Transit Bus operator call for service. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted the bus operator (victim), who stated, I was taking my break on the bus when an adult male (suspect) boarded the bus and demanded transportation to Downtown LA.  The victim told the suspect he would have to exit the bus because he was not driving the bus.

The suspect became irate and started attacking the victim.  The victim believed he saw a pocketknife in the suspect’s hand as the suspect punched him.  The suspect exited the bus and walked to the terminal platform, where Deputies detained him. The victim sustained multiple lacerations to his right hand and was treated on the scene by the responding Fire Department. The suspect was arrested.  

January 18, 2025

Battery on a Metro Employee (Contract Security Guard) – Suspect Arrested

Two Metro-contracted security officers (Victim 1 and Victim 2 (V1/V2)) were conducting train rides and observed an adult male (suspect) sleeping on the train. Upon the train stopping at Mariposa Metro Passenger Station, the security officers observed the suspect exiting the train and boarded another train. The security officers boarded the same train to document the incident and report it to law enforcement. 

While one of the security guards was taking a picture of the suspect, the suspect became upset and approached the security officer (V1) and punched him in the face twice without provocation. The security officers were able to detain the suspect, at which time the suspect turned his head and spat in the face of the second security officer, V2.  V1 complained of pain to his face but refused medical treatment.  V2 was not injured and refused medical attention.  Transit Services Bureau Deputies responded and arrested the suspect for battery on a Metro employee.

January 17, 2025

Possession with a Firearm – Suspect Arrested

While conducting a patrol check at Norwalk Metro Passenger Station, the Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputy contacted an adult male (suspect) for trespassing and riding his bicycle on a Metro platform. TSB Deputy detained the suspect. Incident to arrest, TSB Deputy searched the suspect’s backpack and located two loaded semi-automatic handguns.

Further investigation revealed the backpack, and firearms had been stolen in a vehicle burglary incident from the neighboring city, which had been reported to the local Sheriff’s Station. A search of the suspect revealed that he was in possession of a controlled substance and was arrested for the above-indicated charges.

January 16, 2025

Battery on MTA Bus Operator – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Admiralty Way / Mindanao Way in the city of Marina Del Rey regarding an assault on a Metro Transit Bus operator call for service. While on patrol, Marina Del Ray (MDR) Deputies were flagged down at the location by the MTA bus operator (victim), who had just been assaulted on the bus. MDR Deputies contacted the TSB station, and TSB Deputies were dispatched. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the victim, who stated that an adult male (suspect) was being loud and unruly on the bus and was asked to exit.

The suspect became upset and, without provocation, punched the victim on the right side of the face. The suspect then exited the bus, and the victim followed. The operator was able to flag down a passing Sheriff’s patrol car. The suspect was detained after a short foot pursuit with Marina Del Rey deputies, and the suspect was successfully arrested without further incident. The victim refused to be transported to the Hospital.

Battery on MTA Bus Operator – Suspect Outstanding

Deputies contacted and detained the suspect regarding trespassing on Metro property. During the contact the suspect was found to be in possession of large amounts of copper wire.  The suspect was arrested for the charge.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Willowbrook Ave and 119th St, regarding a theft of copper wire report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that unknown suspect entered the location and stole 177 feet of copper wire. The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $9,000. The suspect is still outstanding.

January 05, 2025

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded Artesia Metro Passenger Station, regarding a see the man report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that unknown suspect entered the location and stole 300 feet of copper wire. The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $2,000. The suspect is still outstanding.

January 04, 2025

Indecent Exposure – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to APU/Citrus Metro Passenger Station regarding an Indecent Exposure call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted an female adult (victim) who stated, she had boarded an eastbound train at Lake Metro Passenger Station, when a male adult (suspect) sat in front of her, and started gripping his penis with both hands, with a smirk on his face looking directly at her.  The victim immediately became uncomfortable and exited the train at Downtown Azusa Metro Passenger Station.  The suspect did not exit the train.  The victim contacted Metro ROC regarding this incident and was advised to report this incident to LASD at APU Passenger Station. The victim contacted law enforcement and was able to positively identify the suspect, who remained on the train, in the same seating position.  The suspect was arrested.

Assault (Knife)– Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Norwalk Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted a male adult (victim) and another male adult (suspect). The victim stated while he was on the train with his girlfriend, he observed the suspect starring at his girlfriend. The victim and the suspect then began to argue and the argument turned physical when the suspect produced a knife and began violently attacking the victim. The suspect slashed the victim with the knife on his lower back, which produced superficial wounds. LA County Fire responded to treat the victim, but he refused to be treated and or transported to the hospital. The suspect was arrested.

Assault – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the intersection of Del Mar Blvd and Madison Ave, in the city of Pasadena, regarding an aggravated assault call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated that while riding on the Metro bus, she and another adult female (suspect) became involved in a verbal argument, which became physical when the suspect struck the victim on the cheek with a power drill.  The victim sustained minor scratches on her cheek.  The suspect fled the location and out of view.  Pasadena Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local Hospital for treatment. Deputies recovered the power drill and booked it into evidence at Temple Sheriff’s Station.  Deputies, along with Pasadena Police, conducted a search for the suspect. However, they were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

The suspects cut the copper wire from the right-of-way track area and fled the location. The damages and repairs were estimated at $16,232. The suspect is still outstanding.

Possession of a Knife – Suspect Arrested

While conducting security for the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl at Memorial Park Metro Passenger Station, Transit Services Bureau’s (TSB) Special Assignment Unit (SAU) conducted high visibility security checks of the platform when they noticed an adult male (suspect) wearing a tactical plate carrier with an open folding knife in plain view affixed to the plate carrier readily available. SAU Deputies detained the suspect. Upon conducting a search of the suspect, Deputies retrieved a baggie containing an off-white crystal-like substance and a drug pipe. The suspect was arrested.

Possession of a Firearm – Suspect Arrested

While conducting security for the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl at Memorial Park Metro Passenger Station, Transit Services Bureau’s (TSB) Special Assignment Unit (SAU) was contacted by Metro Security about a person with a gun on the train. SAU Deputies, along with Metro Security and Homeland Security Agents, searched the train and platform as patrons were exiting.

Metro Security updated information that the male adult (suspect) had a gun in his pocket, and the butt of the gun was showing. TSB SAU Deputies contacted the suspect at Memorial Park Metro Passenger Station and took him into custody without further incident. Upon conducting a search of the suspect, Deputies retrieved the pellet gun as well as several pellet packs from the suspect’s backpack.

Train vs. Pedestrian

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Mountain Ave, in the city of Duarte, just west of Duarte Metro Passenger Station, regarding a train vs. pedestrian call for service. Upon Deputies’ arrival, they contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that the pedestrian was walking westbound on the train tracks when he was struck by a westbound train. Los Angeles County Fire responded and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital for further evaluation. The pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

December 30, 2024

Assault on Metro Security Officer – Subject Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Duarte Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on an MTA security officer’s call for service.  Upon the Deputy’s arrival, they contacted the MTA security officer (victim), who stated he observed six juveniles riding their skateboards and scooters on the platform.  The victim contacted the juveniles and told them they must leave the area. As the juveniles left the platform, one juvenile (subject) retrieved rocks from the tracks and threw them at the victim.  The victim was struck on the right arm and right side of his head.  The victim was examined at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire. The victim had no visible injuries and declined transportation to the hospital.  Deputies conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the subject. The subject is still outstanding. 

Robbery (Strong Arm) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Florence Ave/Alameda Blvd, in the city of Los Angeles, regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated while standing at the rear of the bus, she was approached by an adult female (suspect) who forcefully pulled her headphones off her head and ran off the bus.  As the suspect exited the bus, a good samaritan who observed the incident retrieved the headphones from the suspect and returned them to the victim. The suspect fled westbound on Florence Ave and out of view. The victim was not injured and declined medical treatment. The suspect is still outstanding.

Robbery (Strong Arm) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Long Beach Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult female (victim) who stated that while waiting for a train, an adult male (suspect) attempted to forcefully grab her cell phone out of her hands. During the attempt, a struggle between the victim and the suspect ensued. The suspect simulated a firearm with his hand, at which point the victim feared for her life and let go of her phone. The suspect fled on foot down the stairs and out of view. The suspect is still outstanding.

Possession of a Firearm – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Azusa Metro Passenger Station regarding a person with a gun call for service. While en route, the call was updated that an adult male (suspect) had boarded the train and was traveling towards Irwindale Metro Passenger Station. Deputies reverted their response to Irwindale Metro Passenger Station; upon arrival, deputies contacted and detained the suspect without incident upon exiting the train.  Deputies conducted a search of the suspect and located an additional replica handgun in addition to the replica rifle the suspect was carrying.  The suspect was arrested.

Traffic Collision Train Vs. Vehicle – Minor Injuries

The Transit Services Bureau (TSB) desk received a call from the Southland Transit Bus Operations Center (STBOC) regarding a traffic collision call for service. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, Temple Sheriff Deputies were already on scene. Temple Sheriff’s stated the accident between the bus and train resulted from a bus traveling northbound on Rosemead Boulevard that rear-ended a stopped truck in the number 3 lane just north of Rush Street. Numerous injuries were reported; 7 patrons complained of back/neck pain and were transported to local hospitals. One patron was transported with critical injuries to another local hospital. Temple Sheriff’s Station will investigate the traffic collision.

Traffic Collision Train Vs. Vehicle – No Injuries

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to 3rd Street & Rowan Avenue in the city of East Los Angeles regarding a vehicle vs Metro Transit Authority (MTA) train collision. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the train operator, who stated the train was going eastbound on the E-line when a vehicle failed to stop at the red traffic light and proceeded into the train’s path, causing a traffic collision. No injuries were reported by the train operator, driver of the vehicle, or patrons on the train. The vehicle sustained minor damage. Los Angeles County Fire responded. California Highway Patrol will investigate the traffic collision. 

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspects Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male, who stated numerous patrons (two male adults and four female adults) were involved in a fight on the Compton platform. The Victim sustained a laceration to his wrist from an unknown object. The Victim was treated on-scene for non-life-threatening injuries by Compton Fire and refused further treatment or transportation.  The Victim was uncooperative with personnel during the investigation.  All other suspects/victims were gone before the Deputy’s arrival.  A search of the surrounding area for additional victims was met with negative results. 

Assault (Hands and Fist) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Vermont Metro Passenger station regarding a train vs pedestrian call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male (Victim) who stated that while on the platform, he was punched in the face by an adult male (suspect) and lost consciousness.  The Victim appeared confused and disoriented, and he was unable to provide any additional information regarding the incident. Los Angeles County Fire (LACF) responded and transported the Victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. The Victim sustained an approximate ¼-inch laceration to his nose and forehead. A search of the area for the suspect met with negative results.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Courtesy Report

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Wardlow Metro Passenger station regarding a medical call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted Long Beach Fire, who stated they received a call for an unresponsive adult male (Victim) on the train bleeding from the head. The Victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. After speaking with the Victim, the Deputies were able to ascertain that the Victim was involved in an incident earlier in the day at Rampart Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard in the city of Los Angeles. It did not appear that the incident occurred on the transit system.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to 17th Street Passenger Station, regarding Santa Monica Police Department detaining a robbery suspect.  The deputies contacted the Victim, who told them he was on the platform when a male adult (suspect) walked up to him and forcefully grabbed his sunglasses from his face and fled the location on foot.  The Victim stated he followed the suspect and called the police.  Santa Monica Police Department responded and were able to locate the suspect.  The suspect was detained without further incident.  The Victim complained of pain to is nose and forehead but refused medical treatment.  The suspect was arrested.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Carson Street/110 Freeway Metro Passenger Station regarding family disturbance call for service.  Upon arrival, the victim was uncooperative with the deputies and the suspect was detained pending a domestic violence investigation.  During their investigation, the determined the male (suspect) assaulted his girlfriend (victim), who had visible injuries to her face and around her neck.  The victim refused medical treatment on scene and refused to be transported to the hospital.  The suspect was arrested.

Battery on MTA Contracted Security – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Norwalk C Line Passenger Station regarding a battery call for service.  The deputies contacted the Metro Contract Security Officer (victim), who stated she attempted to detain and handcuff a male adult (suspect) who she observed defecating in public.  The victim stated as she tried to handcuff the suspect, he kicked her in the right leg and punched her in the face.  The victim sustained a small laceration above her right eye.  The victim complained of pain but refused medical treatment.  The suspect was arrested.

Assault with A Deadly Weapon – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Ronald Reagan UCLA Hospital regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call just occurred.  Deputies contacted both the victim and witness (Bus Operator).  The witness told the deputy he was travelling westbound on Santa Monica Boulevard on the bus, at approximately 0300-0330 hours when he saw the victim and the suspect get into a physical altercation on the bus.  When the bus arrived at Santa Monica Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard, the suspect took the victim off the bus and placed the victim onto the sidewalk.  The suspect reboarded the bus and continued westbound.  The suspect exited the bus at the 4th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard layover and walked out of view.  The victim was not able to provide any statements due to the extent of his injuries.  Santa Monica Fire Department personnel responded and treated the victim for lacerations to his forehead and lip.  The victim was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment and pre-existing medical condition.  An incident report was authored.

Criminal Threats/ Assault with A Deadly Weapon – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station regarding criminal threats call for service.  The deputies contacted the victim who stated he and the suspect were involved in an argument about who would be the first person to exit the train at Willowbrook Metro station.  When the train stopped at the station, both parties began pushing and shoving each other.  They eventually exited the train and continued arguing on the platform. During the argument, the suspect produced a knife and stated, “I will kill you” to the victim. The victim began walking away from the suspect, but the suspect followed the victim on foot while holding the knife in his hand.  Fearing the suspect will harm him, the victim walked downstairs and flagged down deputies.  The suspect went upstairs and boarded another train.  The victim did not sustain any injuries because of this incident.  Responding deputies checked the area, but they were unable to locate the suspect.  An incident report was authored.

Grand Theft – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to1600 South California Avenue, Monrovia, Division 24, regarding a grand theft call for service.  The deputies contacted the victim (MTA) who stated, while conducting the monthly inspection of the fire hydrant around Division 24 at the Monrovia train yard, 6 valves were discovered missing.  Each missing valve measures approximately one inch in diameter and 24 inches in length.  It is unknown when the valves were stolen, but they were discovered missing today.  The estimated replacement cost for all the stolen valves as provided by the servicing company (Link-Nilsen Corporation) is approximately $40,800.  An incident report was authored.

Battery on MTA Contract Security – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Marine Passenger Station regarding a battery call for service.  The deputies contacted Metro Security (victim) who stated the observed drinking an alcoholic beverage on the platform.  When the officers approached the suspect, he appeared to be intoxicated. The officers asked the suspect to leave the platform, but he refused. The suspect threw the empty bottle of the alcoholic beverage on the train tracks and attempted to board the train.  When the security officers attempted to escort the suspect of the train, he began yelling profanities at them and he slapped the victim in the face.  The victim (Metro Contract Security Officer) grabbed the suspect and conducted a takedown.  The suspect continued struggling the victim on the ground.  The victim then pepper sprayed the suspect in the face. Other security officers assisted the victim to subdue the suspect.  Paramedics responded and treated the victim for his exposure to OC Spray.  The victim did not sustain any injuries, and he refused to be evaluated by the paramedics.  The suspect was arrested.

December 05, 2024

Battery on MTA Contracted Security – Suspect Arrested/Released with cite

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Marine/Redondo Beach Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on contracted security personnel call for service.  Upon arrival, deputies contacted MTA Contracted Security, who stated they observed an adult male (suspect) drinking an alcoholic beverage on the platform. MTA Contracted Security asked the suspect to leave the platform, but he refused.  The suspect threw the empty bottle of the alcoholic beverage on the train tracks and attempted to board the train.  As Security was trying to escort the suspect off the train, he began yelling profanities at them and slapped one of the security guards in the face. 

MTA Security conducted a takedown on the suspect.  TSB Deputies responded and took the suspect into custody. Redondo Beach Fire responded and treated the victim, but he refused medical services.  The suspect was cited and released in the field.

SAU South High Visibility Operation

Theft- Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Special Assignment Unit (SAU) deputies conducted a high visibility patrol check of the Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station platform when they were flagged down by an adult female (victim) who had discovered her backpack had been stolen. SAU Deputies radioed a description of the stolen item. A search of the area led to an adult male (suspect) found to have the stolen backpack. The backpack was returned to the victim. The suspect was arrested. The suspect was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and found to have a No Bail felony warrant attached to his name. 

Felon in Possession of a Firearm – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Special Assignment Unit (SAU) deputies conducted a patrol check at Norwalk Metro Passenger Station. They observed an adult male (suspect) loitering on the passenger station bridge. During a consensual encounter with the adult male (suspect), Deputies learned the suspect was a convicted felon on parole for attempted murder. During that consensual encounter, the suspect confessed to having an unregistered firearm in his backpack.  The suspect was arrested.

Battery on MTA Contracted Security – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Downtown Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on contracted security personnel call for service. Upon arrival, deputies contacted MTA Contracted Security, who had an adult male (suspect) detained. Deputies immediately took custody of the suspect without incident. MTA Contracted Security (victim) stated he advised the suspect he could not enter the station through the emergency back gate. However, the suspect then became argumentative with Security.  The suspect proceeded to enter through the gates, at which time the victim attempted to grab the suspect to detain him. The suspect threw an elbow at the victim, striking the victim in the chest. The victim did not complain of any pain or injury and refused any medical treatment. The suspect was arrested.

Robbery (Strong Arm) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Norwalk Metro Passenger station regarding a robbery call for service.  Upon arrival, deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated while standing in the bus bay area at Norwalk Metro Passenger Station, an adult male (suspect) approached him and, without provocation, punched him multiple times in the head.  The victim dropped his cell phone during the altercation.  The suspect picked up the cell phone and ran down the stairs to the train platform.  The victim contacted Metro’s contracted Security, which confronted the suspect on the platform.  The victim was able to retrieve his cell phone. The suspect was last seen boarding a westbound train. Deputies conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect.  The victim sustained two minor lacerations to the face during the robbery but refused medical treatment. The suspect is still outstanding.

Persons Unresponsive

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Marine/Redondo Beach Metro Passenger station regarding an unresponsive person’s call for service.  Upon arrival, Redondo Beach Fire Department personnel were conducting CPR.  The adult male did not regain consciousness and was pronounced at the scene.  There were no signs of trauma or foul play.  The cause of death is unknown.  The Los Angeles County Coroner responded.

December 01, 2024

Robbery / Battery – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Culver City Metro Passenger Station regarding a robbery call for service.  Upon arrival, deputies contacted an adult female (victim #1) who told them while sitting on the platform at Culver City Metro Passenger Station, an adult male (suspect) approached her and forcefully took her cell phone.  As the suspect ran westbound on the platform with her cell phone, a good Samaritan tripped the suspect to the ground.  Two other bystanders then became involved in a physical altercation with the suspect and were able to recover victim #1’s cell phone.  The suspect ran down the steps from the platform to the street level, where, without provocation, the suspect punched an adult female (victim #2) in the back of the head one time before continuing westbound on Venice Boulevard.

The suspect was located and detained by assisting units.  The victims positively identified the suspect. Culver City Fire arrived on the scene and treated the victims.  Victim #1 was treated for minor non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the robbery.  Victim #2 complained of pain in the head but refused medical treatment.  The suspect was treated for minor non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the altercation with bystanders.  The suspect was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. The suspect was arrested. 

November 30, 2024

Robbery (Strong Arm) – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Willowbrook Metro Passenger station regarding a robbery call for service.  Upon arrival, deputies contacted an adult male (victim) who stated he exited the southbound train at Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station and walked towards the Rosa Parks bus bay, waiting for the Metro Bus to arrive when he was approached by two adult males (suspect 1 & 2).  Suspect 1 wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck, placing him in a chokehold. While in a chokehold, suspect 2 punched the victim several times in the head. During the attack, the suspects stole the victim’s wallet containing $550, his cellphone, and several cards. The victim complained of pain in his head and neck but refused medical treatment. The suspects are still outstanding.

Battery on MTA Bus Operator – Suspect Outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Century Boulevard and Yukon Avenue in the city of Inglewood regarding an assault on a Metro Transit Bus operator call for service.   Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the MTA bus operator (Victim), who stated an adult male (suspect) threw a cup of coffee at her, striking her all over her upper torso after being told he could not smoke on the bus. The suspect exited the bus and fled from the location on foot.  Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Inglewood Fire treated the victim on the scene. The suspect is outstanding.

November 29, 2024

Traffic Collision (MTA Bus vs Vehicle (Hit and Run)) – Vehicle outstanding

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to Lakewood Boulevard & Telegraph Boulevard in the city of Downey regarding a traffic collision call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the MTA bus operator (victim), who reported that a vehicle cut off the bus, causing minor damage to the front of the bus. The vehicle fled the location and was last seen traveling east on Telegraph Road, which was out of view. Several passengers inside the bus complained of pain and were treated on the scene by Downey Fire. One passenger was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Downey Police Department responded and handled the Traffic Collision. The vehicle is still outstanding.

Attempt Grand Theft – Suspect Arrested

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) deputies responded to 119th Street/Willowbrook Avenue (A Line grade crossing) regarding two adult males (suspect 1 &2) trespassing on the tracks and possibly stealing copper wire. Upon arrival, Deputies detained both suspects pending a Grand Theft (copper wire) investigation.  Their investigation revealed both suspects had partially cut two sections of copper wire cable with a saw at the location.  The cable was not removed but was damaged and had to be replaced.  The Metro Supervisor arrived on the scene and estimated the damage replacement cost of the copper wire to be $1,500.  Both suspects were arrested.
