The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station would like to inform residents and visitors about street closures and parking restrictions during the upcoming WeHo Pride celebration from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2, 2024. The festivities will be centered around West Hollywood Park and the city’s Rainbow District.

To ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow, the following streets will be closed:

• N. San Vicente Blvd from Melrose Ave to Santa Monica Blvd: Closed Thursday 5/30 7pm – Monday 6/3 10am
• Eastbound Santa Monica Blvd from N. La Cienega Blvd to N. Doheny Dr: Closed Friday 5/31 12pm – Monday 6/3 7am
• N. Robertson Blvd from Santa Monica Blvd to Melrose Ave: Closed Friday 5/31 12pm – Monday 6/3 7am
• Westbound Santa Monica Blvd from N. La Cienega Blvd to N. Doheny Dr: Closed Saturday 6/1 6am – Monday 6/3 7am
• N. San Vicente Blvd from Santa Monica Blvd to Cynthia St: Closed Saturday 6/1 6am – Monday 6/3 7am
• Santa Monica Blvd from N. Fairfax Ave to N. Doheny Dr (including side streets one block north/south): Closed Sunday 6/2 5am-5pm for Pride Parade

The following parking facilities will also be closed:

• West Hollywood Park parking structures and lots: Closed 5/30 7pm – 6/3 10am
• Plummer Park south lot: Closed 5/30 7pm – 6/3 12pm
• Robertson parking lot: Closed 5/30 7pm – 6/3 10am

Pride Ride shuttle buses will provide transportation along Santa Monica Blvd and to/from the Hollywood & Highland Metro Station at select times from 5/31-6/2.

We advise planning ahead for delays, using alternate routes, and taking public transportation or ride-shares if attending Pride events. Our deputies will be out in full force to direct traffic and safeguard the large crowds.

Let’s all do our part to make this a safe and enjoyable Pride weekend! Please be patient, courteous and mindful of restricted parking and closures.

Attention, West Hollywood! We’re anticipating considerable rainfall, strong winds, and a possibility of flooding from Sunday, February 4th, through at least Tuesday, February 6th.

Please prioritize your safety by taking the following steps:

1. Assess flood risks at home.
2. Secure outdoor items indoors or anchor them to prevent them blowing away.
3. Drive carefully and avoid flooded streets.
4. Check on neighbors, especially the elderly and less mobile.
5. Bring pets indoors.
6. Charge medical devices and cell phones fully, and prepare back-up systems for potential power outages.
7. Ensure storm drains in your area are clear of debris.
8. Prepare an emergency kit with essentials.
9. Be patient, emergency services might be busy.

Today, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department West Hollywood Station announced details for their annual Community Academy. The event will take place over six consecutive Wednesday evenings, from September 6 to October 18.

About the Community Academy

The Community Academy curriculum offers West Hollywood residents an inside look at the operations of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. Attendees will:

• Gain a comprehensive view of patrol operations, which are the heart and soul of our station’s efforts in West Hollywood.
• Deep dive into how our dedicated specialty teams address mental health challenges in our community.
• Be introduced to specialized units that often operate behind the scenes, such as SWAT, K9 units, and more.
• Experience firsthand what it’s like out in the field with an opportunity to go on a ride-along with one of our deputies.

The Community Academy is also an opportunity to connect with the dedicated personnel of the West Hollywood Station and engage with fellow West Hollywood community members.

Following its hiatus during the pandemic, the Community Academy resumed in 2022. Participants noted how much they learned about the various law enforcement practices that play a role in the city’s safety.

One former attendee commented, “Through the program, I became more aware of different units in the Sheriff’s Department, such as SWAT, Crime Analysis, and the Met Team. Getting to know different deputies and hearing about their experiences and motivations for joining the force provided a deeper understanding of the department.”
