The Department is subject to oversight from multiple entities, including the Civilian Oversight Commission, the Office of the Inspector (OIG), outside monitors of lawsuits and settlement agreements, and a federal court. The Department regularly responds to requests for information and documentation from each of these entities and attempts to do so in a timely manner. Year to date, the Department has responded to 140 of the 143 requests for information by the OIG sent to the Office of Constitutional Policing, with only the most recent requests still pending. In the 140 requests, we produced 662 items which included documents and email communications. The Department has also responded to 59 of the 60 requests made by the COC, with only the most recent requests still pending. The sheer volume of requests sometimes makes this challenging, but the Department remains committed to working cooperatively to provide all requested information as required by law.
Historically, County oversight bodies have long taken a contentious approach to dealing with the Department. Admittedly, in the past, the Department also took a contentious approach towards oversight. When Sheriff Luna was sworn in, he committed to changing that approach. He has done so by attending COC meetings, holding monthly meetings with various members of the COC, ensuring responses to the numerous oversight requests, gaining compliance with settlement agreements, and inviting oversight to department meetings and events, among other things. The Sheriff personally and continuously works to improve the relationship. This will take time to change and will require efforts by all parties. Sheriff Luna is committed to continuing this process.
With respect to a subpoena issued by the OIG to the Department for documents regarding an investigation conducted by a unit created in the prior administration, the Sheriff disbanded that unit shortly after taking office. No one in the current administration ran that unit or conducted the investigations in question. Nevertheless, the Department engaged in a diligent search for responsive materials in its possession which resulted in the production of over 55 gigabytes of data, contained on four thumb drives which included emails, phone logs, and other materials responsive to the subpoena.
Following that production, the former IG stated that there were more materials responsive to the request that were not produced. In April 2025, upon learning that the former IG stated there were additional undisclosed materials and believing that there could be no search conducted by the Department that would satisfy the former IG, the Department began the process of hiring an outside attorney to identify what, if anything, was missing. That attorney was hired and is working to determine precisely what the former IG believes is missing from the Department’s response and is also conducting an independent review of the Department’s records to determine if those materials actually exist and can be found. The former IG is aware of this specific effort.
The Department will abide by the law and engage in the legally required process with labor representatives. The Department looks forward to working closely with County Counsel, labor representatives, and the COC to implement the new law and continue building a cooperative and productive relationship grounded in mutual respect, accountability, and the shared goal of public trust.
Prior to the approval of Assembly Bill 847 the Department was forced to file a declaratory relief action seeking guidance from a court about whether the Department could provide confidential records to the COC given the strict confidentiality requirements of California Penal Code Section 832.7. This lack of clarity was recognized by the legislature when it undertook a legislative remedy to address the uncertainty. With the passage of AB847, the Department is dismissing the declaratory relief action.
The Sheriff is committed to transparency in law enforcement and has worked diligently to partner with the COC. He also recognizes the demanding and often dangerous nature of the work performed by our men and women who serve under intense public scrutiny and make split-second decisions to protect our communities. For this reason, the protection of confidential information, including records that safeguard officer safety, privacy, and the integrity of pending investigations, remains of the utmost importance for the Department.
As we move forward it is essential to strengthen collaboration with the COC while ensuring that the rights and safety of our personnel are protected.
The Department became aware of the complaint related to the Palmdale Station CAC at last month’s COC meeting. The complaint was handled according to Department policy, and the complaint was formally documented, and a review is underway.
In order to help the public have a crime-free shopping season, LASD periodically informs & continues to warn the public through social media about holiday safety.
Holiday Shopping Safety Tips
Neighbors watch out for neighbors! If you will be staying home or traveling, help keep an eye out for suspicious activity and report it to your local law enforcement. This makes communities safer.
Let someone you trust know when you’re traveling. Have them watch your house and retrieve any newspapers and collect your mail. If you are going to be gone long, contact your United States Postal Service and put your mail on hold.
When out shopping, stay vigilant! Park in a well-lit area.
Avoid shopping alone! Consider shopping with friends or relatives so everyone looks out for each other.
If you are shopping with children, coach them on what to do if they become separated. Make sure they know their first and last name, have contact phone numbers memorized and teach them about 911.
Do not leave packages in plain view in your vehicle. Lock your vehicle and place all your merchandise in the trunk.
If you place packages in your vehicle and plan to go back inside for more shopping, please consider driving away from your current parking spot and park somewhere new, so no one knows what valuable items you just left unattended.
Remember where you parked and be sure to locate your keys prior to going to your car. Prior to getting into your vehicle take a look inside and around before entering.
Be cautious of strangers approaching you for any reason. Many thieves will use different methods to distract you with the intention of taking your money or merchandise. Consider Instead, volunteering or donating to a charity.
Keep a secure hold on your purse. When approaching or leaving your vehicle, be aware of your surroundings.
Keep your home safe! Set lights on timers, giving the impression the house is not alone. Make sure to close all blinds and lock all entry points such as windows, sliders, and all your doors.
Celebrate responsibly by planning ahead. Even if you’ve had only one drink, play it safe and designate a sober driver or use a ride-share service to get home. If you plan on drinking, don’t plan on driving.
Don’t use a debit card. Many people like using a debit card due to convenience or as a budgeting tool, but debit cards lack the same consumer protections that credit cards do. Should your account be compromised, you can be responsible for a greater share of the loss than if you had used a credit card
Be wary of online deals that are too good to be true. Do your research on whoever you are buying from.
If an online seller asks you to wire payment, be suspicious. Many times fraudsters will advertise a great deal on a high dollar item, but will only accept a money wire transfer. Once the money is wired to an account, it is very difficult to recover it if later on it turns out you were the victim of fraud.
Only do business with vendors who use secure websites.
Keep an eye on your credit cards at all times. A common tactic of fraudsters employed by a legitimate company is to take the card you present as payment, swipe it through the legitimate payment system, and then swipe it again through their own collection device. Your credit card information can then be used by the crook for their own purpose or sold to other crooks.
Guard your identity the same as you would your pocketbook. Criminals not only want your money, they want your identity. With it, they can use it to get credit and make purchases while sticking you with the bill. Your information is valuable and can be sold to other criminals as well.
Be suspicious of people claiming to be from your credit card company who need to “verify” information. If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from your credit card company asking you to verify Personally Identifiable Information be careful.
The caller could be a scammer who is gathering information that will later on help him steal your identity. If you feel there is some legitimacy to the callers questions, terminate the call and call back the company using a phone number you know is legitimate. You can find these numbers on your credit card statement or the company’s website.
Monitor bank statements for suspicious activity. With increased activity during the shopping season, it is easy for a bad guy to slip in a few unauthorized transactions without you knowing it. Monitor bank and credit cards regularly for suspicious transactions and question anything that does not look legitimate regardless of the amount. Most financial companies offer online access to your account and you can monitor transactions in real time.
Limit use of free Wi-Fi. Don’t use free wireless networks, such as those in coffee shops, when you shop online. Fraudulent Wi-Fi hotspots are too easy to set up and are often disguised to look like legitimate services offered by reputable companies. Bad guys use these fraudulent sights to capture your data or install malware on your device. Waiting until you have a secure connection at home or using data from your own personal cellular plan is a good way to eliminate this type of operation.

ADW (Scissors) – Suspect Outstanding Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the La Verne Metro Passenger Station regarding a possible assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated, while onboard the Metro train, he was approached by a male adult (suspect), with a pair of scissors in his hand yelling he was going to kill him. The victim lifted his legs up to protect himself and the suspect grabbed his left leg. The suspect then lost his grip, let go of the victim’s leg, dropped the scissors he was carrying and exited the train at Glendora Station and fled in an unknown direction. The victim remained on the train, exited at La Verne Passenger Station, and contacted the Sheriff’s Department. Responding deputy personnel were unable to locate the suspect. The victim was not injured during the altercation. The suspect is still outstanding.

Obstruct/Delay Rail Operations & Battery on a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies were conduction patrol checks at the Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station when they were flagged down by Metro security. Metro security officers requested deputies to assist them with a female adult (suspect), who was on the Metro train without a valid fare. The deputies contacted the suspect and explained she needed a valid fare to remain on the Metro train. The suspect exited the Metro train briefly and reboarded without paying for fare. The suspect was detained for obstructing/delaying rail operations. Deputy personnel escorted the suspect off the Metro train and to an awaiting patrol vehicle. When the suspect was being placed into the back of the patrol vehicle, she spat on one of the deputies (victim). The suspect was arrested for battery on a peace officer and obstructing/delaying rail operations. The suspect was issued a citation for the indicated charges and released, pending a future court date.

Robbery (Strong-arm) – Suspect Outstanding Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to 10th St and Beach Blvd, in the city of Buena Park, regarding a grand theft call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, while onboard a Metro bus, a male adult (suspect) grabbed the victim’s cellphone from her left hand. A struggle ensued between the suspect and the victim. The suspect struck the victim’s left wrist several times with his hand in a chopping motion until the victim lost her grip and released the phone to the suspect. The suspect then took the victim’s wired headphones by force. The suspect then exited the bus heading West on Beach Blvd. and out of view. The victim suffered mild redness to her neck and left wrist and declined medical assistance. The suspect is still outstanding.
ADW (Knife) – Suspect Outstanding Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to California Ave and Tweedy Blvd, in the city of South Gate, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon just occurred call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a witness who stated, while onboard the Metro bus, he saw a male adult (suspect) standing next to a male adult (victim), who was sitting down. The witness said the suspect asked the victim for the time and the victim replied to the suspect. The witness said the suspect then produced a large knife and unprovoked, stabbed the victim twice in his neck. The suspect exited the bus at California Ave and Tweedy Blvd heading East on Tweedy Blvd and out of view. LACO FD responded to the scene and treated the victim for his injuries. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital in stable condition to be treated for his injuries. Responding Deputy Personnel were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

Battery – Suspect Outstanding Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Rodeo Dr and Wilshire Blvd, in the city of Beverly Hills, regarding a battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated, he was seated to the rear of the bus, next to the rear exit door. A male adult (suspect) walked towards the victim, and suddenly and unprovoked punched the victim several times to his head and torso. The victim ran towards the bus driver and requested to stop the bus. The bus stopped at Wilshire Blvd and Rodeo Drive. The suspect exited the bus and ran out of view. The victim suffered minor bruises but was not transported to the hospital. The suspect is still outstanding.

Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a Metro Supervisor who informed them 60 feet of copper wire was missing from the train tracks. The Metro Supervisor did not know when the incident occurred. He estimated the cost to replace the copper wire at $5,400. Responding Deputy Personnel were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

Grand Theft – Suspect Arrested Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Vermont Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, while onboard the train, a female adult (suspect) approached her, and without warning stole her cell phone from her hands. The suspect exited the train, ran up the stairs to the street level, and boarded a Metro bus. The Metro bus drove northbound on Vermont Avenue and out of view. The suspect was later detained and positively identified by the victim as the person who stole her cell phone. The suspect was arrested for the indicated charge.

Grand Theft (Copper Wire) – Suspect Outstanding Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Duarte Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft that just occurred call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a Metro Supervisor who informed them 100 feet of copper wire was missing from the train tracks. The Metro supervisor said there was also damage to a portion of the tracks due to the heat from the tools used to cut the copper wire. He estimated the cost to repair the tracks and replace the copper wire at $25,000. Responding Deputy Personnel were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.
Vandalism – Suspects Arrested / Subject Cited Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Lynwood Metro Passenger Station regarding a vandalism that just occurred call for service. While enroute to the call, Deputies received updated information regarding the description of the suspect. Upon arrival, Deputies detained a male adult (suspect) and a male juvenile (subject) who were positively identified for the vandalism. Both were arrested for the indicated charge. Due to the second suspect being a juvenile, he was cited and released under the guidance of a guardian. Assault on Metro Contract Security – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Artesia Metro Passenger Station regarding a battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted Metro contract security (victim), who stated that a male adult (suspect) was loitering on the platform and asked him to leave. The contract security escorted the suspect off the platform and away from the location. While escorting the suspect off the platform, the suspect turned towards the contract security personnel and punched the victim in the face. The contract security detained the suspect, pending the arrival of deputy personnel. The suspect was arrested for the indicated charges. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor facial lacerations.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Broadway Blvd and Pacific Av, in the city of Glendale, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated, he sat next to a male adult (suspect) while on board the bus. The suspect became upset that the victim sat near him, and a verbal altercation ensued. The suspect then produced a knife from his backpack and threatened the victim with it. The victim moved away from the suspect and notified law enforcement. The victim pointed out the suspect who committed the assault, that was standing nearby. The Deputies detained the suspect for the assault. The victim suffered no injuries. The suspect was arrested for the indicated charges.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Rail Operations Center (ROC) lobby regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, while standing on the train platform, a male adult (suspect) without provocation pushed her from behind causing her to fall onto the platform. The victim said as she fell to the ground, the suspect took the victim’s purse by force from the victim’s grip. The suspect was last seen running from the platform and out of view. A bystander near the station was able to recover the stolen purse and return it to the victim. The victim noticed that several identifiable documents were missing from her purse. A search for the suspect was met with negative results. The victim suffered no injuries. The suspect is still outstanding.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Norwalk Metro Passenger Station regarding a sexual battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, while riding the escalator, she noticed a male adult (suspect) behind her. Shortly after, she felt the suspect touch her buttocks over the outer portion of her pants. When they reached the top of the escalator, the suspect walked toward the ‘bus bay’ and out of view. Responding Deputy personnel were unable to locate the suspect. The victim suffered no injuries. The suspect is still outstanding.

Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, while standing on the train platform, a male adult (suspect) removed her fanny pack from around her waist without her knowledge. The victim saw the suspect running away with her fanny pack, westbound towards Wilmington Avenue and out of view. Responding Deputy personnel were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

Robbery (Strong-arm) – Subjects Cited
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Culver City bus bay regarding a robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted Culver City Police officers who were detaining 5 male juveniles (subjects) regarding the robbery. Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, while onboard the bus, 5 male subjects blocked her path, and pushed her to the ground. The subjects forcefully grabbed her necklace ripping it from her neck. All the juveniles then fled southbound from the location, and were all detained by Culver City Police Department. The victim suffered no injuries. Due to the suspects being juveniles, they were all cited and released under the guidance of a guardian with a promise to appear.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Sunset Blvd and Sunset Plaza Dr, in the city of West Hollywood, regarding an attempt robbery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated, while riding on the bus, a male adult (suspect) attempted to take the victim’s headphones by force. The victim moved away from the suspect and pushed him off using his arms. The suspect then shoved the victim to the side and stepped off the bus. The suspect exited the bus in an unknown direction and out of view. Due to the delay in reporting the incident, TSB Deputies were unable to locate the suspect. The victim suffered no injuries. The suspect is still outstanding.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Atlantic Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, as she was walking off the station platform, a male adult (suspect), who is a stranger to the victim, walked up to her and without provocation, the suspect punched the victim multiple times in the face. The suspect then walked off the platform southbound on Atlantic Blvd. and out of view. The victim suffered a minor scratch and redness on her face and refused medical assistance. A search of the suspect by TSB units met with negative results. The suspect is still outstanding.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Lynwood Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a Metro Supervisor who informed them 45 feet of copper wire was missing from the train tracks. The Metro Supervisor was unable to provide a date for the last track inspection prior to discovering the missing copper wire. The Metro Supervisor estimated the cost of replacing the copper wire to be $2,025.00. TSB Deputies were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

ADW – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Florence Metro Passenger Station regarding a person with a knife call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies were informed the male adult (victim) had already left the location. Deputies were further informed that a male adult (suspect) was still on the platform. Upon contacting the suspect and detaining him, the suspect stated he was involved in a fight with the victim on the platform. The suspect further stated he produced a machete and attacked the victim. The victim was able to disarm the suspect and threw the machete out of the suspect’s reach. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the victim suffered injuries to his right hand, but the extent of his injuries is unknown. The suspect was arrested for the charge listed above. The suspect sustained no injuries. The machete was recovered and booked into evidence. The suspect was arrested.

If you were previously incarcerated and did not collect your money at the time of release or are receiving a commissary refund, you can go to either of the following addresses. Please be aware that Trust Accounts are purged approximately 30 days after your release from custody. If you do not collect your funds before 30 days, the collection of those funds will be delayed.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Artesia Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated, while onboard the train, he witnessed the male adult (suspect) pour gasoline from a gas tank onto the train floor. The victim said he also saw the suspect pull out a lighter and hold it over the gasoline spilled on the floor. The victim was able to kick the lighter out of the suspect’s hand to prevent a fire. The suspect then pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim, telling the victim he was going to shoot him. The victim immediately exited the train. The victim stated that the suspect left the metro train station and ran north, out of view. Due to the delay in reporting the incident, TSB Deputies were unable to locate the suspect. The victim suffered no injuries in this incident. The suspect is still outstanding.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Firestone Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated, while inside the stopped train, he witnessed the male adult (suspect) touch an unknown female inappropriately on her buttocks. The victim intervened and told the suspect to respect the female. The suspect then pulled a folding knife from his pocket and lunged at the victim. The victim, fearing for his safety, immediately got off the train and called the police. The victim said the suspect remained on the train, which left the station heading southbound. TSB units searched for the suspect but met with negative results. The victim suffered no injuries. The suspect is still outstanding.

Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Imperial Hwy and Western Av, in the city of Los Angeles, regarding a vandalism call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro bus operator, who stated she saw a male adult (suspect) exit the bus. As the suspect was exiting the bus, he hit the window with his right hand, breaking the glass. The supervisor estimated the cost of replacing the window to be $326.68. The Metro bus operator stated the suspect fled westbound on Imperial Highway and out of view.

Battery on Metro Contract Security – Suspect Cited
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Norwalk Metro Passenger Station regarding a battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro contract security (victim), who stated that a male adult (suspect) was loitering on the platform and asked him to leave. The contract security escorted the suspect off the platform and upstairs to the street level. While escorting the suspect off the platform, the suspect turned towards the contract security personnel and spat food on their shoes. The contract security detained the suspect, pending the arrival of deputy personnel. The contract security was desirous of prosecution and signed a “Private Person’s” arrest for the suspect. The suspect was cited and released in the field. The contract security was not injured during the incident.

ADW – Suspect Arrested / Subject Cited
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Lakewood Bl and Rose Av, in the city of Downey, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male juvenile (subject) and a male adult (suspect) who stated, while on the bus, they sat next to each. The subject and suspect got into an argument, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation at which time the suspect pulled out a box cutter, and the subject pulled out a knife. The subject was detained for the indicated charge and later cited and released to his parent. The suspect was arrested and booked for the indicated charge. The subject and suspect were not injured during this incident. Suspect Arrested, and the subject was cited.

ADW / Attempted Robbery – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to a local Hospital, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon and attempted robbery report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated, while waiting for the train at the Willowbrook Metro Passenger Station, she was approached by a female adult (suspect), who attempted to take her cellphone by force. The victim’s cellphone fell to the ground, and a fight ensued between the suspect and the victim. The suspect then left the location in an unknown direction and out of view. The victim said that as she picked up her cellphone, she also saw a foldable knife on the ground but did not realize the knife had been used during the assault by the suspect. Once the victim was home, she realized she had been stabbed multiple times in her abdomen by the suspect. The victim was transported to a local Hospital, where she remains under observation for non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the time delay in reporting the incident, TSB deputies were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.
Sexual Battery – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Central Ave and Hardy St, in the city of Inglewood, regarding a sexual battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who stated that she was approached by an adult male (suspect) on the bus. The suspect, who was a stranger to the victim, began to ask the victim for her name and other personal questions, which the victim ignored. Due to the bus being crowded, the victim and suspect were standing close to each other in the front of the bus. The victim said that when she was able to move toward the back of the bus, she felt the suspect’s hand groping her buttocks. The victim said she then exited the bus on Crenshaw Blvd. and Hardy St. and went home, where she called the police. Due to the delay in reporting the incident, TSB units were unable to search for the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

ADW – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Monrovia Metro Passenger Station regarding an assault on Metro employees, call for service. Before the Deputies’ arrival, the male adult (suspect) had already left the location. The victim told deputies that while working on lighting equipment in the area, the suspect approached the victim and, without provocation, produced a knife from his pocket. The victim, fearing for his safety, pushed the suspect to the side and distanced himself from the suspect. The suspect was then seen running from the area in an unknown direction and out of view. A witness to the incident advised TSB deputies of the suspect’s location in a nearby business. TSB units located the suspect, and the victim positively identified him. The suspect was subsequently arrested by TSB personnel for the above charge and taken into custody without further incident. The victim did not suffer any injuries from this incident. The suspect is still outstanding.

Trespassing/ Delaying Metro Operations – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Artesia Metro Passenger Station, where Metro contract security (Inter-Con) personnel were detaining a male adult (suspect), who had no authorization to enter the train tracks. Inter-Com security personnel said they saw the suspect sitting on the tracks, preventing a Metro train from continuing its course. Security personnel at the location placed the suspect under private person’s arrest. TSB deputies conducted their investigation and took over custodial possession of the suspect. The suspect was arrested and cited with a notice to appear in court for the above-listed charges. The suspect did not have any injuries.
Traffic Collision – Train Vs. Vehicle
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Colorado Avenue and 11th Street, in the city of Santa Monica, regarding a Train VS. vehicle collision call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro train operator, who stated the vehicle was traveling southbound on 11th Street when it struck a Metro Train that was at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and 11th Street. No injuries were reported. The sole occupant and driver of the vehicle was transported to the local hospital to be evaluated for further reasons due to her age. Both the train and vehicle sustained minor damage. The Santa Monica Police Department arrived and will investigate the traffic collision.
ADW – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Allen Metro Passenger Station regarding an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who told deputies that she was waiting to board the train at the Azusa Metro Passenger Station when she recognized a male adult (suspect) from days prior, when the suspect spat on the victim at Union Station. The victim said she approached the suspect and questioned him about the previous encounter. The suspect then produced a knife and told the victim, “I’ll cut you.” The victim said, fearing for her safety, she distanced herself from the suspect and boarded the train, believing the suspect had left the platform. The victim said once inside the train, she saw the suspect aboard the train and confronted him again. This time, the victim said the suspect exited the train at Sierra Madre Metro Passenger Station in an unknown direction and out of view. The victim did not suffer any injuries. TSB units searched the area at Sierra Madre for the suspect but were unable to locate him.

ADW (GBI) – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to La Brea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, in the city of West Hollywood, regarding a fight call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted an adult male and female (victims 1 & 2) who stated they were on the bus with a male adult (suspect/friend) when they began fighting over earphones. The victims said the suspect started punching them several times on their heads. Victim 1 fell back and struck his head. The suspect exited the bus and left in an unknown direction. Both victims suffered facial injuries and a minor laceration. Los Angeles City Fire arrived on scene and evaluated the victims. They both refused to be transported to a local hospital. The suspect is still outstanding.
Battery on MTA Contract Security – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Downtown Santa Monica Metro Passenger Station regarding a Battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted Metro’s Contract Security (Inter-Con) (victim), who stated that security (victim/partner) contacted a male adult (suspect) because his TAP card was not properly tapped on the turnstile. The suspect ignored the victim’s orders to return to the turnstile. The victim advised the suspect that he needed to exit the platform. The suspect became agitated and smacked the victim’s hat off his head, which came into contact with the victim’s head. The suspect was taken into custody pending the arrival of deputy personnel. The victim was not injured and refused medical. The suspect was arrested.

Battery – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Lakewood Metro Passenger Station regarding a Battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered the male adult (victim) had already been transported to the local hospital. Deputies contacted the victim in the emergency room, who told them all he remembered was feeling dizzy and falling to the ground. Deputies were able to observe the footage from the security cameras and saw the following: they observed a male adult (suspect) walk behind the victim and punch the victim in the side of the face. The victim then fell to the ground. Deputies returned to the scene but were unable to locate any witnesses or the suspect. The suspect is still outstanding.

Traffic Collision – Metro Bus Vs. Vehicle
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Artesia Boulevard and Prairie Avenue, in the city of Torrance, regarding a Metro Bus VS. vehicle collision call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the bus operator, who stated that while operating the bus, a vehicle (Nissan) collided with the bus, causing damage to the front and driver’s side of the bus. The other vehicle had minor damage to the rear passenger side area. The bus operator complained of pain in his finger, shoulder, and hip. The Torrance Fire Department responded and evaluated the bus operator for his injuries, but he refused to be transported. There were four (4) patrons on the bus who all stated they were not injured. The other vehicle’s driver and three (3) other occupants stated they were not injured. The Torrance Police Department responded and will handle the traffic collision investigation.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon / Robbery – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Century Sheriff’s Station regarding an Assault with a Deadly Weapon report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who told them on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1240 hours, he was getting on the elevator at Firestone Metro Passenger Station, when a male adult (Suspect) approached him and without provocation punched him one time in the face (right eye/cheek area). The victim fell to the ground and lost consciousness for a couple of seconds. When he woke up, the victim observed that the suspect was attempting to take his scooter, which he had fallen on. The suspect was able to wrestle the scooter away from the victim. The victim ran upstairs to the platform to try to get help. When he returned to the street level, he saw his scooter leaning up against the wall, and the suspect was running westbound on Firestone Boulevard. The victim recovered his scooter, walked home, and called 911. The victim went to the hospital on Saturday night (September 13) and was diagnosed with a maxillary sinus fracture. The victim had bruising below his right eye. The suspect is still outstanding.
Criminal Threats – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to 126th Street and Avalon Boulevard in the city of Los Angeles (LA). Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the bus operator (victim) regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. The bus operator said a female adult (witness) approached her and said a male adult (suspect) on the bus had a knife. The bus operator pulled the bus over at the indicated location, and the suspect approached the front of the bus with his hand in his pocket. The bus operator told the suspect to get off the bus. The suspect yelled, “Shut up or I’ll cut you,” and then exited the bus and fled southbound on Avalon Boulevard and out of view. The bus operator said the suspect never brandished a knife, but had his hand in his pocket, which made her fear for her safety. The female patron had already left the scene and did not provide her observations. Deputies searched the area for the suspect, but he was not located. There were no injuries as a result of the incident. Suspect is outstanding.
Assault – Suspect Outstanding
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the local hospital regarding a battery report call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who told deputies that as he attempted to use his tap card at the Firestone Metro Passenger station, the victim realized he was short on funds and started asking for money when he was suddenly hit over the head by someone. The victim does not know who or what it was. The strike on his head rendered him unconscious. The victim said when he came to, he saw blood on his head and shirt. The victim decided to leave the passenger station and called 911 from home. The victim said he suffered a laceration to the right side of his head. The victim was subsequently transported to the local hospital from his home for further medical evaluation of his injuries. The suspect is still outstanding.
Battery – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Artesia Metro Passenger Station regarding a battery call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (victim) who told Deputies that while waiting at the Artesia Metro Passenger Station, she was approached by a male adult (suspect) who walked up to her and asked her for money. The victim told the suspect she did not have any money to give him. The suspect then yelled at the victim and threw a liquid onto her clothing. The suspect then fled the location and boarded a bus. TSB deputies later located the bus and detained the suspect. The victim positively identified the suspect during a field show-up. The suspect was arrested for battery. The victim did not have any injuries, nor did she complain of any pain.
Safety Hazard – Patient Rescued
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Lakewood Metro Passenger Station regarding a female stuck between a fence and a wall, call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a female adult (patient) who was pinned between a decorative wall and a fence on the passenger platform. The patient stated she had attempted to climb up the wall but ended up getting stuck and unable to pull herself out. The Downey Fire Department arrived and was able to retrieve the patient from the tight space safely. The patient was further transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The TSB Mental Evaluation Team (MET) evaluated the patient and placed the patient on a mental hold.

Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who stated that while sitting on the train, he was approached by a female adult (suspect) who walked up to him while holding a pepper spray can in her right hand. The victim stated that the suspect motioned to the victim without saying a word, asking him to hand over his property. The victim said he feared for his life and gave the suspect his backpack containing a cellphone, his CA ID card, and other miscellaneous items, valued at $70. The victim said the suspect then walked out of the train at the Long Beach Metro Passenger Station in an unknown direction and out of view. The victim did not suffer any injuries. Attempted Robbery – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Metro Passenger Station regarding a criminal threat, a person with a knife, and a call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted a male adult (victim) who saw an adult male (suspect) near the Metro Customer Center and identified him as the person who threatened him with a knife. The deputies attempted to contact and detain the suspect, but he ignored their commands and walked away. Utilizing their radio, Deputies called for additional units, and a short foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was detained during a takedown and taken into custody. It was later determined that the suspect attempted to rob the victim by using a homemade knife. The suspect was arrested.

Grand Theft (Copper Wire)– No Suspect information
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to the Douglas Metro Passenger Station regarding a grand theft call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the Metro Supervisor, who stated that track personnel discovered 260 feet of missing copper wire during a track inspection. The Metro Supervisor was unable to provide a date for the last track inspection. There was no suspect description. The supervisor estimated the cost of replacing the copper wire to be $10,000.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies with the Commuter Enhancement Team (CET) responded to the Duarte Metro Passenger Station regarding a disturbance call for service. Upon the Deputies’ arrival on the platform, they were alerted by patrons that the person they were looking for was on the west side of the platform. Deputies contacted an adult male (suspect). Deputies gave the suspect several verbal commands to turn around and be handcuffed, which appeared to indicate that the suspect was complying. The suspect then picked up several rocks, walked over to the Deputies, stopping a few feet from them, and threw rocks at them, striking one of the Deputies in the chest with the rocks.
One of the Deputies immediately deployed his Taser 10 toward the suspect, which had the desired effect, causing the suspect to fall on the ground and be handcuffed without further incident. The suspect sustained minor taser dart puncture wounds; however, they did not complain of any other pain. Deputies were not injured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. During the deputies’ investigation, they discovered that the suspect had assaulted two female patrons on the platform before their arrival.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect Arrested
Transit Services Bureau (TSB) Deputies responded to Telegraph Road and Tubeway Avenue in the city of Commerce regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted the female adult (victim), who stated that while she was on the bus, an argument ensued with a female adult (suspect). Without provocation, the suspect pepper-sprayed the victim. The suspect then produced a tire iron and threatened the victim with it. The bus operator intervened and prevented the suspect from exiting the bus. Upon the Deputies’ arrival, they were safely able to detain the suspect. The suspect was positively identified and arrested for the assault without incident. Los Angeles County Fire responded to the location to treat the victim for her injuries, but she refused all medical treatment.
