Crime data on this site is for informational purposes only.  The data is preliminary, incomplete, and subject to change upon the receipt of updated information related to individual incidents.

The data is provided “as is” and should not be used on its own to duplicate summarized crime counts as reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program.  The data contained in the downloadable files undergo a series of processes and validation measures to meet the UCR Program’s Summary Reporting System (SRS) reporting guidelines.  For official, complete monthly crime statistics, which meet UCR guidelines, please refer to the subsequent sections, “OFFICIAL MONTHLY CRIME STATISTICS” and “OFFICIAL TWO-YEAR COMPARISON OF PART I CRIME STATISTICS.”

The columns that will be included in all datasets will be as follows:

  1. LURN_SAK = System assigned number for the case (column added 04/26/2018)
  2. Incident Date = Date the crime incident occurred
  3. Incident Reported Date = Date the crime was reported to LASD
  4. Category = Incident crime category
  5. Stat = A three digit numerical coding system to identify the primary crime category for an incident
  6. Stat Desc = The definition of the statistical code number
  7. Address (last two digits of # rounded to 00) = The street number, street name, state and zip where the incident occurred
  8. Street (last two digits of # rounded to 00) = The street number and street name where the incident occurred
  9. City = The city where the incident occurred
  10. Zip = The zip code of the location where the incident occurred
  11. Incident ID = The URN #, or Uniform Report Number, is a unique # assigned to every criminal and noncriminal incident
  12. Reporting District =  A geographical area defined by LASD which is within a city or unincorporated area where the incident occurred
  13. Seq = Each incident for each station is issued a unique sequence # within a given year
  14. Gang Related = Indicates if the crime incident was gang related (column added 08/02/2012)
  15. Unit ID = ORI # is a number issued by the FBI for every law enforcement agency
  16. Unit Name = Station Name
  17. Longitude (truncated to 3 decimals, equivalent to half-block rounding) (column added 01/04/2021)
  18. Latitude (truncated to 3 decimals, equivalent to half-block rounding) (column added 01/04/2021)
  19. Part Category = Part I Crime or Part II Crime indicator (replaced DELETED column 01/04/2021)
