#LASD #CrimeTimeTuesday Ex-husband Shoots Ex-wife on Christmas Day, gets Sentenced to 40 years to Life in Prison

On Monday, December 25, 2017, on the 9100 block of Rosecrans Avenue, Bellflower, deputies responded to a “Gunshot Victim” call and discovered a female identified as the victim. The victim suffered at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A male was also found and identified as the suspect. He sustained at least one self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital.

LASD Homicide Detective’s investigation revealed the victim and the suspect were previously married. The suspect contacted the victim at the location and during the contact the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim. He then turned the firearm on himself.

The victim and suspect had two children in common, a 6 year-old son and an 8 year-old daughter, both children were present but uninjured at the time of the crime.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Amanda Luna. The suspect, Santiago Palacios Salgado, pled no contest to one felony count of second-degree murder.
