Assembly Bill 413 (AB 413), also known as the Daylighting to Save Lives Bill, took effect statewide.

What does the Daylighting Law do?

Prohibits stopping, standing, or parking vehicles:

  • Within 20 ft of the approach side of any crosswalk; or
  • Within 15 ft of the approach side of any crosswalk with a curb extension.

Why Daylighting Matters?

  • Nearly 36% of all pedestrian traffic fatalities in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County occur at intersections.
  • Daylighting enhances visibility for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

When will Enforcement begin?

  • Parking Enforcement Detail will begin enforcing the law November 1, 2025.
  • The violation will apply even if there’s no posted signage or painted curb.
  • The parking citation violation code is 22500(n)(1)(A) cvc with a fine of $63.
