CCW License Modification
APPLICATIONS TO MODIFY YOUR CCW LICENSE ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED
What is a modification?
A legal name change, address change, or addition/deletion of a firearm from your CCW license.
Please note: it is not necessary to apply for a CCW modification if you are only updating your employment information. This can wait until you renew your CCW.
- CCW modifications will be restricted to TWO firearm modifications per CCW term. For example, a Standard 2-year CCW license may be modified to add/remove firearms no more than twice during that 2-year term.
- After two firearm modifications, CCW holders should wait until it is time to renew their CCW before requesting additional changes. Exceptions may be made for exigent circumstances.
- Address changes and name changes are required by law and do not count towards the two allotted modifications per year.
- Failure to upload all required documents at the time of submission will result in rejection of your application. Please note that the $10.00 application fee is non-refundable.
You cannot modify your CCW if it is within 90 days of expiring. This is the renewal window.
BEFORE YOU APPLY YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
NOTE: When you have obtained the necessary documents and/or training, you may proceed to complete the online CCW modification application.
ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS MUST BE UPLOADED AT TIME OF MODIFICATION APPLICATION SUBMISSION
Failure to upload all required documents at the time of submission will result in rejection of your application. Please note that the $10.00 application fee is non-refundable.
Modification for Firearm Change (ADD/DELETE):
Please submit the following certification documents WITH YOUR MODIFICATION APPLICATION SUBMISSION:
- Valid Driver’s license or Identification card.
- Training certification from an authorized LASD training provider. Only certificates dated within 30 days of the date of the modification request will be accepted. No exceptions. You must upload the following:
• PDF copy – Shooting Proficiency Standards Form
• PDF copy – Certificate of Completion from the vendor - List all weapons you want listed on your CCW license even if they are on your previous CCW. Only the weapons listed will be included on your CCW license.
- Review our list of training providers authorized by the LASD. Training from any other facility will not be accepted.
Modification For Address Change:
Please submit the following items WITH YOUR APPLICATION SUBMISSION:
- Valid Driver’s License or Identification card that reflects the new address. If you have updated your Driver’s License, please submit a copy of a receipt from DMV showing a change of address has been submitted.
- A copy of a recent utility bill in your name, reflecting your new address, showing full-time residency as stated in your application.
Modification for Name Change:
Please submit the following items WITH YOUR MODIFICATION APPLICATION SUBMISSION:
- Valid Driver’s License or Identification card and court documentation verifying legal name change, or marriage certificate.
