Deputy-Involved Shootings Statistics Data

These Data Files contain all Deputy-Involved Shooting Incidents which include the following: Hit Shooting Incidents, Non-Hit Shooting Incidents, Animal Shootings, Warning Shot Incidents, Unintentional Discharge Incidents and Shooting Incidents – Other.  These are downloadable in various formats i.e. csv, pdf, xml, etc.

Department members may use deadly force in self defense or in the defense of others, only when they reasonably believe that death or serious physical injury is about to be inflicted upon themselves or others. Discharging a firearm at another human being is an application of deadly force and must, therefore, be objectively reasonable. All members shall view their duties in the context of safety for themselves and others, with an emphasis on respect, professionalism, and a reverence for human life, even when force is required.

The County Open Data Initiative Website  –  data.lacounty.gov  – will be down 1 to 3 months (new software vendor).
