Palmdale Station History

In 1992, the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station began as a neighborhood sub-station of the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station in a 5,500-square-foot storefront office on the corner of 10th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard. In 1998, the facility was enlarged to 13,500-square-feet and became its own station, no longer under the command of Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station. Although it obtained full station status, the Palmdale facility lacked several key features needed for operating efficiently including a jail, secure parking, gas pumps, and a heliport. Space at the station was so limited that staff members had to turn sideways to pass each other in the hallways.

In May 2004, construction began on a new station to service the city of Palmdale and the surrounding unincorporated areas. Construction was completed, and the new Palmdale Sheriff’s Station opened its doors on June 12, 2006. The state-of-the-art facility encompasses a 47,000-square-foot main building; a 7,800-square-foot jail; and an 8,399-square-foot motor pool and storage building. The station is located on 11.5 acres at the corner of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q in the City of Palmdale.

The new Palmdale Sheriff’s Station provides an approachable facade and practical floor plan that ensures maximum efficiency and a user-friendly environment for Department personnel and the public alike. The station will accommodate the continued growth and expansion of the community which it proudly serves for years to come.

LASD will facilitate quarterly public meetings of the CAC to discuss the Monitor's reports and to receive community feedback about LASD's progress or compliance with the Agreement.

  • Unit Order on Supplemental Patrol Procedures (Approved 05/03/16).
  • Unit Order on Supplemental Supervisory Responsibilities (Approved 05/03/16).
  • Policy on Limited English Proficiency in the context of searches, bias-free policing, and complaint intake. Related to Settlement Agreement (SA) items 52, 66, and 125 (Revised/Approved 04/08/18).
  • Policy on photography, audio, and videotaping by the public and members of the press, which establishes a prohibition against discouraging members of the public from documenting police activities. Related to SA item 106 (Revised/Approved 11/06/17).
  • Policy on seizure of photographic video or audio evidence from a private citizen or member of the press, related to item above (Revised/Approved 11/06/17).
  • A policy on Housing Non-Discrimination (Approved 02/23/18).

  • Policy on constitutional policing, regarding the right of members of the public to receive equal protection of the law, without bias as to race, color, ethnicity, national origin, relation, gender, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation. Related to SA item 64 (Revised/Approved 05/15/17). Includes the following:
  • Policy on stops, seizures, and searches, which establishes that investigatory stops and detentions shall be initiated and carried out based on the tenets of constitutional policing and bias-free policing, as in above policy. Chief Laura E. Lecrivain has been a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (Department) since 1995.  She oversees Countywide Services Division which includes the Community Partnerships, Community Colleges, Parks, and County Services Bureau.  Prior to her promotion to chief, she worked as a commander for Countywide Services Division and Custody Division. 

As a captain, Chief Lecrivain commanded the Twin Towers Correctional Facility (TTCF) where she was responsible for over 800 personnel and the care of 3,000 mentally ill inmates arrested in Los Angeles County (County).  The TTCF is the largest mental health facility in the United States and houses the County’s most severe mental health inmates.  

During her time on the Department, Chief Lecrivain had the privilege of working an array of assignments.  As a deputy, she worked Century Station patrol, detective bureau, and Operation Safe Streets (OSS).  Later, as a sergeant, Chief Lecrivain worked at the Men’s Central Jail, Compton Station, OSS, and Administrative Services Division.  Upon her promotion to lieutenant, Chief Lecrivain worked as a watch commander at Palmdale Station, and later at Compton Station.   

Chief Lecrivain is lifetime resident of Los Angeles County.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Management, and a Masters’ Degree in Leadership from the University of Southern California.  In her spare time, Chief Lecrivain enjoys spending time with her family and Dodger baseball.  She also loves reading and enjoys running.
